GREECE – US-based hybrid packaging company, Berlin Packaging has announced the acquisition of Coropoulis Packaging SA, a leading packaging supplier of closures, corks and glass containers.
The acquisition of Coropoulis will help Berlin Packaging expand its capacities in Greece. According to Berlin Packaging, this transaction will retain the work locations and employees of Coropoulis.
It is also expected to further enhance Coropoulis’ existing expertise in the corks and closures market.
Coropoulis president Eugene Coropoulis and CEO Aristos Coropoulis said: “At Coropoulis Packaging, we pride ourselves on offering our customers the best possible products and services, a value we share with Berlin Packaging.
“Joining companies allows us to provide more products and services to our customers and more opportunities for our people.”
Founded in 1893, Coropoulis Packaging has extensive local market knowledge, providing packaging solutions for the wine, spirits, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics end markets.
In addition to expertise in closures, corks and glass packaging, the Athens-based company provides bottling and capping machinery and technical support.
Elias Valavanis, CEO of Berlin Packaging MED said: “I’m excited to welcome one of Greece’s leading packaging suppliers to the Berlin Packaging family.
“This combination allows us to offer our combined customers an even broader assortment of closures and capping solutions.”
Meanwhile, in October last year the US-based company completed the acquisition of StyleGlass and DiscoGlass.
Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, StyleGlass specializes in decorating glass packaging for the food, beverage, beauty and pharmaceutical end markets.
The company has been offering decoration techniques such as glassware painting and printing for more than 30 years.
The addition of StyleGlass was intended to strengthen Berlin Packaging’s expertise in decoration and expand its integrated service offering.
Berlin Packaging MED CEO Elias Valavanis said: “The acquisition strengthens the design and innovation capabilities we offer to our customers, one of the key pillars of our hybrid packaging supplier approach. Joining our creative and technical forces will bring more value than ever to our customers.”
New Renais gin pack
More recently, Berlin Packaging showcased Renais gin pack, a luxury modern gin created by Alex and Emma Watson at Imbibe Live 2023.
Mark Crumpton, business development manager at Berlin Packaging, said: “The bottle design was very precious to Alex, Emma and the team at Renais.
“Our initial interactions were consultative before our technical expertise was deployed to deliver exactly what they had intended and to ensure the geometry of the bottle was such that it could be scaled for production.
“Our input turned the creative design into something that could be manufactured with only the smallest possible change to the aesthetic design intent, and the results here today speak for themselves.”
