The machine is now also offered in two additional widths EXPERTFOLD 106 for smaller packaging formats and EXPERTFOLD 215 for larger corrugated board applications.

GERMANY – Packaging equipment and services provider BOBST has expanded its EXPERTFOLD folding-glueing portfolio, introducing new automation features and extending the range with additional size options to address evolving production needs across the packaging industry.
The latest enhancements include the addition of an automated blank aligner and full digital job and recipe management across the EXPERTFOLD 145 and 165 series.
These upgrades are designed to reduce manual intervention, improve set-up accuracy, and support faster changeovers, responding to converters’ growing focus on efficiency, repeatability and labour optimization.
As part of the expansion, BOBST has also introduced two new machine widths. The EXPERTFOLD 106 targets smaller packaging formats, particularly micro-flute boxes, and is aimed at manufacturers operating in space-constrained facilities.
At the other end of the spectrum, the EXPERTFOLD 215 has been developed for larger corrugated board applications, capable of processing blanks up to 2,300mm wide.
BOBST says the EXPERTFOLD range is engineered for the precise handling of corrugated board and litho-laminated packaging, enabling converters to meet the quality and consistency demands of brand owners across sectors such as food, beverage, e-commerce and consumer goods.
A key element of the upgrade is enhanced connectivity. The machines feature BOBST’s SPHERE human-machine interface, which integrates with BOBST Connect to enable remote job preparation and access to operational data.
This connectivity allows users to generate detailed production reports, monitor performance, and manage workflows across multiple plants, supporting more effective shift planning and operational benchmarking.
The EXPERTFOLD 215 can be supplied without a pre-breaker to reduce its footprint, while optional modules are available for producing more complex packaging formats in a single production run.
Meanwhile, an earlier version of the EXPERTFOLD 165 was adapted for e-commerce packaging, incorporating inline application of self-adhesive materials to support high-growth fulfilment operations.
The product updates come as BOBST continues to position automation and digitalization at the centre of its strategy.
Last December, the company announced a dedicated open house for professionals in the flexible packaging supply chain at its Competence Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Titled “The Future of Flexible Packaging: Workforce, Automation, and Innovation,” the one-day event is scheduled for February 24, 2026.
The session will focus on challenges such as workforce transitions, emerging skills requirements and the role of automation in maintaining productivity.
Attendees will see live demonstrations of BOBST technologies, including the Vision CI Flexo press, the NOVALAM S 550 laminator and the Master M6 converting system, alongside discussions on workforce training and operational flexibility.
Together, the EXPERTFOLD upgrades and broader industry engagement reflect BOBST’s ongoing push to help converters balance productivity, flexibility and quality in a rapidly changing packaging landscape.
