GERMANY – BOBST and Henkel have combined their skillsets to pursue optimized machine operations, environmentally conscious adhesives, paper-based flexible packaging barriers, and more.
This partnership is a unique blend of BOBST’s expertise in processing, printing, and converting equipment and Henkel’s proficiency in adhesives, sealants, and functional coatings. This combination promises to unlock innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.
BOBST’s sustainability strategy is built on four pillars: sustainability, digitalization, automation, and connectivity. Under sustainability, we have three distinct areas of focus: operations, which includes energy, water, and waste management; equipment, where we aim to reduce machine energy consumption and extend machine life; and packaging use and end-of-life, where we strive for environmentally improved packaging solutions.
Meanwhile, Henkel’s 2030+ Sustainability Ambition framework sets three long-term sustainability dimensions: Regenerative Planet, Thriving Communities, and Trusted Partner. Its aspiration is described as ‘Pioneers at heart for the good of generations’.
“We may be a big organization, but we are made up of people who care about this topic,” says Nanni Bertorelli, product line director for Coating & Laminating at BOBST.
“As an industry leader, we know we have a responsibility to innovate in this area and help to find solutions that benefit society. Working with other industry leaders with shared values and goals such as Henkel is a guaranteed way to accelerate innovation.”
Bobst ink deal with Packitoo to digitalize entire packaging value chain
In a separate development, Bobst has recently partnered with Packitoo, a French company specializing in digital products for the packaging industry, including Hipe, a web-based sales tool.
Hipe automates quotations, manages packaging projects, and supports web-to-pack e-shops for printers and converters.
This collaboration aligns with Bobst’s strategy to digitalize and connect the entire packaging value chain, from brand owners to converters and equipment suppliers.
By integrating Hipe into their offerings, Bobst can provide printers and converters with a tailored product that streamlines their sales cycles, reduces costs, and boosts revenues.
Packitoo will benefit from Bobst’s global presence, expertise, and network, enabling it to reach new markets and customers.
Hipe is designed for converters seeking more customization, smaller orders, and quicker delivery. It offers a personalized digital sales process, allowing converters to quote jobs rapidly and accurately, considering all cost factors, including machine types used.
Furthermore, converters can connect to pre-press applications from software providers like Esko, enhancing value for printers integrated across various web platforms.
Hipe also supports deploying web-to-pack websites with instant and automated quotations, generating more orders with minimal effort.
“This strategic move reinforces our vision of a digital future for the packaging industry, where data and software enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability,” said Jean-Pascal Bobst, CEO of Bobst.
“Packitoo’s software aligns perfectly with our industry vision, offering a new way of collaboration and a valuable solution for our customers to automate and optimize their sales processes.
“We look forward to working with Packitoo’s talented team to develop further and scale their software for our global customer base.”
