Canon showcases its advanced commercial printing technologies 3rd Print Pack Sign Expo 2025

Canon aims to equip Tanzanian businesses with scalable solutions for packaging, signage, CAD/GIS, and interior décor.

TANZANIA – Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) made a strong entry into Tanzania’s burgeoning printing and packaging market by unveiling its advanced commercial printing technologies at the 3rd Print Pack Sign Expo 2025, held from August 28–31 at the Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Hall.

Organized by Takshikka Trade Fairs, the event drew global brands like Heidelberg, Konica Minola, Epson, and Bindwel, alongside over 20 Chinese manufacturers and local powerhouses such as Identity, Magenta, and Mohammed Enterprises Tanzania Limited (MeTL).

Canon’s exhibit, featuring three immersive innovation zones, underscored its strategic push to equip Tanzanian businesses with scalable solutions for packaging, signage, CAD/GIS, and interior décor amid the country’s rapid economic expansion.

Tanzania’s printing sector is experiencing robust growth, projected at a 5.9% CAGR from 2025 to 2031, according to a 6Wresearch report.

This surge is fueled by rising demand for promotional materials, educational books, and packaging, driven by population growth, e-commerce, and government literacy initiatives.

Commercial and offset printing dominate, but digital inkjet technologies are gaining traction for short runs and customization.

The broader African packaging market, valued at US$45.15 billion in 2025, is expected to reach US$54.54 billion by 2030 at a 3.85% CAGR, with Tanzania’s consumer goods and infrastructure booms amplifying needs for high-quality prints.

Additionally, the interior décor segment, particularly textiles and homeware, is forecasted to hit US$63 million in e-commerce revenue by 2025, growing at 13.4% CAGR through 2029, creating opportunities for durable, customized prints.

Amine Djouahra, B2B Business Unit Director at Canon Central & North Africa, highlighted the expo’s significance, “Our participation marks a significant step in bringing Canon’s latest technology closer to Tanzanian customers.

“We are committed to empowering local businesses with innovative, reliable print solutions that help them compete globally.”

Formed in 2016 as part of Canon Middle East FZ LLC, CCNA focuses on strengthening in-country presence across Africa, aligning with Tanzania’s US$193.5 billion GDP (PPP) and its position as an East African hub.

The Commercial Print Zone spotlighted the imagePRESS V1000, a compact digital color press printing at 100 ppm on media up to 400gsm, including synthetics and textured finishes, ideal for Tanzania’s fast-growing consumer goods packaging market.

Its automated color adjustments and high-resolution output (2,400 x 2,400 dpi) ensure consistent quality for brochures, labels, and envelopes, addressing local needs for speed and reliability.

In the CAD & GIS Zone, the imagePROGRAF TM-255 and TC-20 large-format printers demonstrated vibrant, high-speed outputs for drawings, banners, and signage.

The TM-255, a 24-inch multifunction unit with 5-color pigment ink, produces A1 CAD prints in 20 seconds, supporting Tanzania’s infrastructure projects.

The TC-20, a desktop model with recyclable 70ml ink bottles, offers cost-effective hybrid printing for small offices and retail, promoting sustainability via EPEAT Gold certification.

The Interior Décor Zone featured the Colorado M-series and Arizona 1300 FLXflow series, leveraging UVgel and UV-LED technologies for durable, high-resolution prints on rigid substrates like wood, acrylic, and glass.

With speeds up to 159 m²/hr and FLXfinish+ for matte/gloss effects, these printers cater to urbanization-driven demand for personalized wall graphics and homeware, aligning with eco-trends like GREENGUARD Gold certification.

Canon specialists conducted live demos of real-world applications, from booklets to door hangers, fostering direct engagement.

Beyond showcasing, the expo reinforced Canon’s role as a strategic partner, offering training and enhanced service delivery to build stronger networks.

As Tanzania transitions from offset to digital printing, importing machinery worth US$11 million in 2024 despite a dip, Canon’s solutions bridge infrastructural gaps, positioning local firms for export growth and sustainability.
