Colpac introduces eco-friendly multi-food pots for versatile dining options

UK – British food packaging manufacturer Colpac has broadened its range of recyclable multi-food pots by introducing a new natural kraft 950 mL pot, complementing its existing UK-manufactured assortment.

This addition includes a kraft pot paired with a separate recycled PET (rPET) lid, now available as a standard stocked item to cater to a broader customer base.

Colpac’s head of marketing and product, Kate Berry, explains, “Our successful production of 950 mL multi-food pots for key clients highlighted the opportunity to expand our stocked range.

“This enables us to offer greater choice to our customers and support their menu development across a broader spectrum of sizes.”

Colpac’s current range comprises 470 mL, 550 mL, 700 mL, and 1300 mL pots. The new 950 mL pot is versatile, bridging the gap between smaller and larger sizes. It is ideal for upscale takeaway lunches and meal offerings for later parts of the day.

This new addition provides flexibility for foodservice operators and retailers, allowing them to package substantial meals with enhanced value perception without opting for the most significant 1300 mL pot.

Since relocating its multi-food pot manufacturing to the UK in 2022, Colpac has developed bespoke food packaging solutions for retailers, now supplying the 950 mL pots from its food-safe, BRCGS AA+ certified facility.

Additionally, Colpac produces these pots for a European client, ensuring continuity of supply and reduced lead times for retail stores in Belgium.

The multi-food pots are suitable for various dishes, particularly salads, due to their grease-resistant interior coating, which withstands oily dressings while maintaining structural integrity.

Moreover, these pots feature a wide aperture for excellent product visibility, showcasing the contents.

They can be paired with rPET anti-mist lids to maintain clarity in chilled displays or heat-sealed for extended shelf-life and effective tamper-proofing.

These pots are recyclable after use. Manufactured from FSC-certified paperboard with less than 10% plastic content, they are made from FSC-certified paperboard.

Likewise, the recyclable lids are made from 100% recycled PET, aligning with Colpac’s commitment to sustainable packaging solutions.

Last year, the company extended its recyclable, food-contact Stagione range to include PE-coated pots and implement ovenability into its PP-coated packaging.

The extended Stagione range will now include polyethylene (PE) coated pots in multiple sizes, including 500ml, 750ml, and 1000ml.

The company stated that the PE coating on the newly added pots helps provide a grease-resistant barrier for various food items and dishes.
