Through this collaboration, Akada collects, processes, and repurposes material waste.

NIGERIA – Eat’n’Go Limited, Nigeria’s leading quick service restaurant (QSR) operator and master franchisee of Domino’s Pizza, Cold Stone Creamery and Pinkberry, has launched a new environmental sustainability initiative in partnership with recycling and waste management company Akada, marking a significant step in reducing waste across its operations.
The initiative, launched recently, focuses on the collection, processing and repurposing of recyclable materials generated across Eat’n’Go’s network of 181 outlets, beginning with Lagos.
Akada will handle paper packaging and other recyclable waste, ensuring that materials are diverted from landfills and reintroduced into the value chain.
Within its first month of implementation, the program has already recycled more than 1,000kg of waste, a milestone that underscores the scale and immediate impact of the collaboration.
“Sustainability is at the heart of how we operate,” said Ademilola Odunubi, Managing Director of Eat’n’Go.
“Partnering with Akada allows us to ensure that our operations contribute positively to the environment, reduce waste, and support Nigeria’s commitment to a greener planet. We are proud to see tangible results already and remain committed to expanding these efforts across all our locations.”
The initiative aligns with broader national and private sector efforts to curb waste pollution and promote sustainable practices in Nigeria, where rapid urbanization and consumption are intensifying pressure on waste management systems.
By formalizing waste collection and recycling, Eat’n’Go is supporting circular economy principles and reducing the environmental footprint of the QSR sector, which is traditionally associated with high volumes of single-use packaging.
Anne Akposibruke, CEO of Akada, said the partnership blends environmental sustainability with social impact.
“The 1,000kg of waste recycled with Eat’n’Go is not just an environmental win; it represents critical resources channeled into our social programs, demonstrating a new model for corporate social responsibility,” she said.
The announcement comes as more foodservice and consumer-facing businesses in Nigeria adopt sustainability targets, including packaging reduction, recycling partnerships and energy efficiency measures.
In recent months, several multinational and regional brands operating in Nigeria have pledged to increase recycled content in packaging and invest in waste recovery infrastructure, reflecting growing regulatory and consumer pressure for greener operations.
Eat’n’Go said it plans to scale the recycling program beyond Lagos to other cities where it operates, while continuing to explore partnerships that deliver long-term environmental impact.
As Africa’s leading QSR company, the firm is expanding its footprint while embedding sustainability into its growth strategy.
Akada, a Nigerian-based recycling and waste management organization, partners with businesses and communities to transform waste into valuable materials through innovative recycling processes, helping to reduce pollution and promote environmental responsibility across the country.
