EGYPT — Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has inaugurated the Punalu for Plastic and Wood Industries Factory in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, under the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
The US$12 million project marks a major step in Egypt’s industrial modernization efforts and supports the nation’s drive toward green manufacturing and sustainable economic growth.
The new facility manufactures artificial marble, wood–plastic composite (WPC) panels, and UPVC doors and windows, materials valued for their durability, recyclability, and lower environmental impact.
Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering industries rooted in innovation and clean technology, noting that Punalu’s establishment “strengthens Egypt’s industrial base through high-quality products capable of competing in both regional and global markets.”
Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, described the project as “a reflection of the evolution of Sokhna’s industrial ecosystem,” highlighting its focus on modern, sustainable industries that incorporate composite materials and circular economy practices.
He added that SCZONE continues to enhance its investor support system while prioritizing projects aligned with Egypt’s green industrial transformation agenda.
Occupying a 20,000-square-meter site, the Punalu plant currently operates at a capacity of 14 tons per day, set to rise to 56 tons once all production lines become fully operational.
The facility is expected to create more than 100 direct jobs in its first phase, with future expansions planned to double both output and employment.
Designed as an integrated circular economy model, the plant employs advanced plastic recycling technologies and sustainable raw materials to convert waste into reusable composites, reducing reliance on natural wood, preserving forests, and cutting carbon emissions in line with Egypt’s 2050 carbon neutrality strategy.
