Elopak equips Rørosmeieriet with eco-friendly milk cartons

NORWAY – Rørosmeieriet, a Norwegian organic dairy company, has introduced Elopak’s Natural White Board cartons for Coop’s Änglamark brand.

Elopak’s newly developed carton packaging showcases a modern, streamlined design and is reported to cut greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 14%.

The reduced carbon footprint of the new Pure-Pak carton with Natural White Board is made possible by removing clay coating, minimizing polymer content, and implementing more energy-efficient manufacturing methods.

“When Elopak presented the Natural White Board cartons to us in January 2025, we immediately saw the alignment with the eco-conscious values of the Änglamark brand,” said Rørosmeieriet commercial leader Kristin Bendixvold.

“We integrated the new board into our existing filling lines with ease. This is another Elopak innovation that lets us pass on more sustainability benefits to our customers and their consumers.”

This initiative represents another significant chapter in the 40-year-plus collaboration between Elopak and Rørosmeieriet, a partnership grounded in mutual trust, aligned principles, and a shared commitment to innovation.

From launching the Natural Brown Board in 2017 to trailblazing the Natural White Board today, Rørosmeieriet consistently demonstrates that transformative progress begins with brands brave enough to lead.

Additionally, this innovation is regarded as a pivotal element in Elopak’s ‘Repackaging Tomorrow’ strategy, which focuses on highlighting partner successes while driving progress in cutting emissions.

“True innovation doesn’t always shout; it often whispers. Our latest cartons may look similar to their predecessors, but they carry a significantly lighter carbon footprint,” added Kristiane Melingen, Senior Project Engineer at Elopak.

“We deeply value packaging pioneers like Rørosmeieriet, who are bold enough to test new solutions. Progress doesn’t happen in isolation; it takes customers and suppliers who dare to leap forward with us.”

Coop stores across Norway now stock Änglamark’s fresh organic skimmed milk in the newPure-Pak Natural White Board cartons, with further plans underway to roll out the eco-friendly packaging across more product lines.

“The new pack fits with our sustainability priorities and is ideal for the Änglamark brand, which Coop founded 20 years ago to help the consumer connect with and choose better environmental options,” said Merete Rørvik, Coop Norway’s own brand’s product manager.

In May this year, Elopak launched Natural White Board, cutting GHG emissions by up to 14%.
