ePac Europe accelerates growth with new facilities, technology investments and product innovations

The investments aim to support rising demand for flexible packaging across Europe.

EUROPE — ePac Flexible Packaging is fast-tracking its European expansion through a series of major facility upgrades and new technology installations across its sites in Lyon, Innsbruck, Silverstone, and Poland.

The strategic investments are aimed at boosting production capacity, strengthening operational efficiency, and meeting rising demand for sustainable, digitally printed flexible packaging.

The company’s Lyon facility has expanded its manufacturing footprint and added an external on-site warehouse to streamline workflow and materials management.

New additions, including an HP Indigo 200K digital press and a Totani pouch converting line, are expected to significantly increase output. Staffing has also been scaled up to support continued growth.

In Innsbruck, ePac is executing one of its largest European upgrades to date. The plant is set to install an HP Indigo 200K press followed by multiple Totani pouch lines, elevating both digital print capacity and finished-pouch production.

The expansion includes reinforcing its technical team to support customers requiring complex, high-performance packaging structures.

The UK’s Silverstone facility is also ramping up pouch and rollstock production with the installation of a new Totani pouch line.

Increased headcount is expected to maintain production speed and quality, particularly as demand for short-run, fast-turnaround flexible packaging continues to grow among emerging brands.

Meanwhile, ePac Poland is enhancing its lamination and converting capabilities with a Karlville Laminator supporting both thermal and solventless processes.

This investment broadens the site’s product range while improving turnaround times for customers in Central and Eastern Europe.

According to John Peat, group vice president – operations, the expansions reinforce the company’s mission to deliver speed, flexibility, and reliability, “By expanding our operations and deploying the latest digital technologies, we’re ensuring our sites across Europe continue to operate with speed, efficiency, and reliability.”

The upgrades coincide with broader industry momentum as converters across Europe increase digital printing adoption.

Companies such as HP and Xeikon have recently reported rising installations of digital presses driven by demand for customization, shorter production cycles, and reduced waste.

Sustainability pressure, fuelled by upcoming EU packaging regulations, are also accelerating investments in digital platforms that enable order-to-demand production.

New easy-open barrier films for coffee brands

Alongside the facility expansions, ePac has launched its Easy Open Barrier Films for the North American coffee market.

Designed with a smooth peelable opening, the films eliminate the need for scissors or tear notches while maintaining high-barrier protection for aroma and freshness.

Available in rollstock and quad-seal formats, the films support rapid production cycles with low minimum order quantities, aligned with the company’s digital-first manufacturing model.
