NORTH AMERICA – Harpak-Ulma, a packaging solutions company, has introduced the FR 400 Twin Flow Wrapper, a horizontal wrapping solution promising “exceptional” throughput.
This innovative solution aims to transform high-volume automated packaging operations. Its compact design caters to facilities with limited floor space or those aiming to boost packaging throughput within existing production environments, as highlighted by Harpak-Ulma.
The FR 400 Twin encompasses the functionality of two fully operational FR 400 horizontal flow-wrap machines, cleverly condensed into the space of a single legacy line.
This configuration effectively doubles throughput within the physical confines of a solitary, stand-alone flow-wrap setup.
Capable of reaching speeds of up to 700 PPM (or 70 meters per minute of film speed per lane), dependent on product size and characteristics, this innovative technology can achieve up to 1400 PPM.
While sharing a frame and HMI for centralized control, each machine operates independently, ensuring continuous operation even if one line encounters operational issues.
Crafted with user convenience in mind, the interface streamlines setup, operation, and maintenance, empowering operators to swiftly switch between various product configurations.
Harpak-Ulma assures that the technology is constructed using premium materials and components, engineered to endure the demands of relentless production, ensuring prolonged service life with minimal downtime.
Josh Becker, bakery segment manager at Harpak-Ulma, emphasized the appeal of the FR 400 Twin for high-capacity snack, bar, cookie, bakery, or confectionery operations striving to boost production without expanding their physical infrastructure.
Efficiency is a hallmark of this solution, enabling producers to scale their operations effectively without necessitating a direct one-to-one operator ratio.
“By mirroring the FR 400 Twin, four machines can function with just one operator,” Becker highlighted. “The labor savings and redundant line capabilities are evident, underscoring the efficiency gains.”
This launch comes barely three months after Harpak-Ulma announced the availability of a revolutionary tray-sealer, the Mondini Trave Sinfonia.
This tray-sealer revolutionizes the way snack and meal producers enhance packaging throughput, offering a smaller, more flexible footprint and significantly reduced labor requirements.
This ingenious solution automates tray packaging processes, granting meticulous control over product loading (with positional accuracy within 10 microns), sealing, and unloading.
The system incorporates Mondini’s newest sealer—an expansive 1500mm long tooling footprint, applying an impressive 33,000 pounds of sealing pressure.
What sets this sealer apart is its seamless integration with an electronically controlled magnetic track system, marking the first of its kind in tray sealer configuration.
This integration catapults the Trave Sinfonia into a league of its own, enabling unprecedented tray throughput and efficiency within a compact form, minimizing the need for manual intervention.
