The move is aligned with the UK government’s Resources and Waste Strategy.

UK – Invopak has introduced a new line of glass containers, with an aim to enhance the UK’s push for eco-friendly packaging solutions.
The launch supports the government’s Resources and Waste Strategy, which prioritizes materials that can be recycled indefinitely.
According to Invopak’s procurement lead, Elise Wilkes, the initiative addresses growing consumer demand for sustainable options.
“Sustainability is a major challenge for the packaging industry. Glass is reusable and recyclable forever, making it an environmentally conscious choice,” she stated.
The new collection includes specialized borosilicate glass vials designed for laboratory use, capable of withstanding high temperatures and harsh chemicals.
Additionally, amber glass options protect contents from light damage, alongside clear soda glass jars and bottles.
Invopak’s new range is expected to appeal to businesses seeking high-quality, eco-friendly packaging.
The company emphasized that its glass containers not only meet technical requirements but also cater to consumer preferences for sustainable and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
By integrating recycled materials and focusing on durability, Invopak aims to contribute to a circular economy.
The launch comes at a time when environmental concerns are driving packaging innovations across the UK.
With regulations like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) encouraging reduced packaging weight and enhanced recyclability, glass is gaining traction as a versatile and sustainable option.
Industry experts note that such initiatives could pave the way for more efficient recycling systems and lower carbon footprints, supporting long-term environmental goals.
A report by the Waste and Resources Action Programme highlights that using recycled glass in manufacturing can cut energy use by up to 30% and significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
With a 74% recycling rate for container glass in the UK, glass remains a preferred material for its recyclability and nontoxic properties, particularly in the food, drink, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors, which form Invopak’s core customer base.
In a related development, Ardagh Glass Packaging Europe recently launched a lightweight 300g glass wine bottle, designed to maintain strength and premium appeal while reducing material use.
