VENEZUELA – Venezuelan printer Jackrom has ordered a ROTOCON RFP 660S flexo press with speeds up to 200 metres per minute and an RD 530mm rotary die-cutter, to serve its cardboard and flexible packaging production.
The agreement was finalised at ROTOCON Europe’s base in Siek, near Hamburg, Germany. The RFP S-Series is a modular sleeve-based press with triple servo-driven operation that supports quicker job changes and running speeds of up to 200 metres per minute.
It can also be set up with additional modules including rotary screen printing, hot foil embossing, lamination, multi-layer, and booklet label production.
The RD 530mm rotary die-cutting finishing machine is intended for broader label and flexible packaging work, using a servo-driven design for web handling and register control.
A Strategic Investment for Two Business Lines
Jackrom, founded in 1972, serves two main business lines: high-volume cardboard packaging and flexible films for stand-up pouches.
Different substrates require different press configurations: cardboard packaging typically uses wider webs and higher ink coverage, while flexible films demand precise tension control to prevent stretching and register drift.
The RFP 660S’s modular design allows Jackrom to reconfigure the press for each product type without investing in separate machines.
The 200 metres per minute speed places the press in the mid-range for flexographic equipment, balancing throughput with the quick changeover capability that short-run packaging requires.
The Die-Cutting Complement
The RD 530mm rotary die-cutting finishing machine operates independently from the press, allowing Jackrom to print on the RFP 660S while simultaneously die-cutting previously printed rolls on the RD.
For a converter running multiple shifts, this decoupling eliminates the bottleneck where a single inline die-cutter limits overall throughput.
The servo-driven design maintains register accuracy without mechanical gears, reducing setup time and waste during job changes.
Elevating Technical Know-How
Susana Zaragoza, Jackrom managing partner and development and quality director, explained that with over 50 years of experience, Jackrom’s identity is rooted in technical knowledge and manufacturing expertise.
She noted that the company is constantly looking to elevate its know-how, and the decision to invest in ROTOCON was driven by technology that aligns with this vision.
Zaragoza added that by upgrading to the ROTOCON RFP 660S alongside the independent RD 530mm die-cutter, Jackrom is unlocking massive production efficiencies, allowing the company to be highly competitive across its two main business lines, with expectations to increase output speed, reduce waste, and maintain quality.
