Securikett unveils tamper-proof labels to boost e-commerce security

AUSTRIA – Securikett, a leading Austrian product and brand security specialist, has introduced an innovative range of tamper-proof labels tailored explicitly for the e-commerce sector.

These labels, featuring a unique cut indicator and VOID effect, aim to enhance security across complex supply chains.

In e-commerce, packages pass through multiple stages—from warehouses to logistics centres and finally to customers—heightening the risk of tampering. Securikett’s new labels visibly display a VOID effect when removed, preventing reattachment or resealing.

Additionally, when a package is cut with a knife, the label frays along the edges, making tampering evident and impossible to conceal.

Vanessa Mitterer, Head of Research at Securikett, highlighted the innovation’s dual focus on security and sustainability, “In the dynamic e-commerce landscape, enhancing supply chain security while considering environmental factors is vital.

“Our recyclable paper-based labels with features like the cut indicator and VOID effect provide a powerful, eco-friendly solution for diverse packaging materials.”

Schreiner MediPharm’s anti-counterfeit labels for healthcare

In a related development, Germany-based Schreiner MediPharm introduced advanced void labels for tampering and counterfeit protection in the healthcare industry.

When peeled, these labels reveal covert messages, irreversibly indicating the first opening of a package and preventing counterfeiters from reusing the original packaging.

Counterfeit medicines represent a US$200 billion black market globally, causing significant economic losses and reputational damage to the pharmaceutical industry.

To combat this, Schreiner MediPharm’s Void Labels comply with the EU Falsified Medicines Directive and ISO 21976 standards.

The VOID labels introduced by Schreiner MediPharm offer three distinct effects, each designed to enhance tamper detection and prevent counterfeiting.

No Transfer labels leave no residue on the packaging after removal. The VOID effect becomes visible only after the package is opened for the first time.

This design allows for the label to be reclosed while retaining the visible void effect, making it ideal for scenarios where some reusability is required without compromising security.

Semi-transfer labels leave partial residues on the packaging upon removal. After the first opening, the VOID effect is visible on the label and the packaging, ensuring tampering is evident.

Reclosure with the visible void effect remains possible, balancing tamper detection and reusability.

Full Transfer labels leave a complete coating on the packaging when removed. This ensures that the VOID effect is prominently displayed on the packaging and the label after the first opening, making it impossible to reclose or conceal tampering.

This option suits high-security applications where reclosure must be entirely prevented.

Each of these options provides tailored solutions for varying levels of security and functionality, addressing the specific needs of diverse industries.

Schreiner MediPharm’s Void-Labels are customizable for various materials and applications. They integrate overt or covert authentication features for enhanced security.

Additionally, the seals include a convenient tab for easy handling and are precisely tailored to packaging needs and specific threat scenarios, ensuring optimal performance.

Securikett and Schreiner MediPharm’s innovations underscore the growing demand for tamper-proof and sustainable packaging solutions, meeting the critical need for security and reliability in e-commerce and healthcare industries.
