SÜDPACK Medica launches MedHub to streamline ordering of medical pouches

The pouches are produced in “ISO-certified cleanrooms”

SWITZERLAND – SÜDPACK Medica has introduced MedHub, a new service platform designed to simplify and accelerate procurement of standard, pre-made pouches for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

The service allows healthcare and packaging clients to order stock pouches via phone, email, or online channels, addressing rising demand for reliable, compliant packaging components across the global medical supply chain.

All MedHub pouch products are manufactured in ISO-certified cleanrooms and kept in continuous stock to meet stringent hygiene and sterility requirements.

Customers can schedule deliveries in advance or select just-in-time fulfillment, an increasingly critical option for pharmaceutical manufacturers managing fluctuating production cycles and supply chain complexity.

SÜDPACK’s Coulmer, France facility has been optimized to support rapid order processing and immediate dispatch of stocked items.

The current MedHub offering includes Tyvek roll stock and three-side seal pouches made from film-and-Tyvek composites.

These materials provide puncture resistance, moisture protection, sterilisability, and clean peelability, key properties for packaging components such as stoppers, filters, connectors, vials, ampoules, and syringes that must maintain sterility prior to filling.

For heavier or sensitive contents, the range also includes PA/PE three-side seal pouches available in multiple sizes, providing microbial barriers and compatibility with gamma sterilization.

Customers requiring specialized solutions can still access SÜDPACK Medica’s customizable pouch formats featuring various materials, opening systems, and printing options.

The MedHub launch aligns with SÜDPACK’s broader investment strategy in medical and pharmaceutical packaging.

In November 2025, the company announced a major expansion of its Erolzheim, Germany site to increase production capacity for PharmaGuard, its polypropylene mono-material blister packaging line for solid-dose medications.

The new facilities are expected to come online in the third quarter of 2027, supporting European efforts to transition toward recyclable mono-material formats in compliance with tightening sustainability regulations.

In parallel, SÜDPACK continues to advance circular economy initiatives. Earlier last year, the company partnered with BASF Gastronomy to supply Heidelberg-based butcher Werz with thermoformed packaging incorporating BASF’s chemically recycled polyamide, Ultramid Ccycled.

This marks the first deployment of the innovation in the hospitality, restaurant, and catering (Horeca) sector.

Derived from mass-balanced, chemically recycled feedstocks, Ultramid Ccycled enables high-barrier film production that maintains product freshness while achieving recyclability within Germany’s polyethylene (PE) stream.

According to BASF’s Dr. Paul Neumann, the collaboration demonstrates that the aims of the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) can be met through chemical recycling pathways, highlighting the growing role of advanced recycling technologies in meeting both performance and sustainability benchmarks.

With MedHub, SÜDPACK Medica expands its role as a key partner for standardized and specialty medical packaging, offering faster access, stronger compliance, and greater supply chain resilience for healthcare manufacturers.
