This initiative aligns with the increasing adoption of green LOOP pallets in the building materials supply chain.

UK – Barratt Redrow, a leading UK homebuilder, is implementing the comprehensive LOOP pallet collection service across all its sites nationwide, demonstrating a significant commitment to sustainability.
This initiative builds on Barratt Redrow’s previous efforts to reuse pallets, aligning with the rise of green LOOP pallets entering the building materials supply chain and having issued over one million units to date.
According to The Pallet LOOP (part of BSW Group), Barratt Redrow is estimated to have reused more than 400,000 green and white pallets over the past year across all its sites nationwide by the end of June 2025.
Barratt Redrow receives delivery of hundreds of thousands of pallets containing core building materials every year.
Previously, British Gypsum used to collect large plasterboard pallets through its previous return scheme, which The Pallet LOOP has since replaced.
Scott Pallets’ recovery team generally collected reusable pallets in partnership with LOOP.
From now on, all reusable pallets delivered to Barratt Redrow’s white and green sites will be returned to The Pallet LOOP, with the company’s housebuilding sites already equipped and actively participating in the program.
“In a short space of time, some of our biggest building materials suppliers have moved to using The Pallet LOOP’s circular economy pallets. This is great news for our business and for other housebuilding companies nationwide,” expressed John Adams, Group Procurement Director at Barratt Redrow.
“The Pallet LOOP solves multiple issues for our business – providing a standardised range of strong, reusable pallets, and consolidating pallet returns via one easy-to-use system. This is helping us reduce waste and cut carbon while also enhancing efficiencies across our operations.”
Andy Williamson, Commercial Director at The Pallet LOOP, said, “We are grateful to the team at Barratt Redrow for fully embracing our pallet collection service.
“As the number of LOOP pallets issued to date surpasses the one million mark, we’re encouraging other housebuilding companies to consider how our business can benefit their operations. Our collection service is simple to use and offers significant environmental and financial advantages– helping housebuilders lower costs and make a positive impact on their sustainability targets.”
“As we strive to help the construction sector become more circular and resource efficient, and as activity in the housebuilding sector ramps up, we look forward to working with companies nationwide to help solve the problem posed by pallet waste.”
Companies participating in The Pallet LOOP program will receive a financial incentive. They will receive $5.39 for every green LOOP pallet they send back for reuse, making it A financially beneficial and environmentally responsible choice.
The Pallet LOOP program is currently being utilised to transport building materials for leading manufacturers, including British Gypsum, Isover, Superglass, and Wienerberger, demonstrating its widespread adoption and credibility in the industry.
