The certification is designed for both newcomers to the industry and experienced professionals aiming to upgrade their skills.

INDIA – Canon India, a leader in digital imaging solutions, has partnered with Future Schoolz, a specialist consulting and training organization for the printing and packaging sector, to launch the Certified Digital Press Specialist (CDPS) program, the first of its kind in the country.
The initiative, unveiled this week, seeks to address the skills gap in India’s rapidly growing digital printing industry by offering structured training, certification, and international recognition for digital press operators, supervisors, and managers.
The CDPS program combines online learning, assessments, and hands-on evaluations with Canon’s advanced digital printing equipment.
Participants will undergo training on key aspects of digital press operations, including machine handling, paper management, ink and colour precision, workflow optimization, and environmental sustainability.
The certification is designed for both newcomers to the industry and experienced professionals aiming to upgrade their skills.
Speaking on the launch, C. Sukumaran, Senior Director, Products & Communication at Canon India, said, “Technology alone cannot transform the industry; it requires skilled professionals who can truly unlock its potential.
“Through this initiative, we aim to build a robust ecosystem of certified specialists who will deliver exceptional results with cutting-edge digital imaging technologies. Our target is to certify at least 200 professionals in the next couple of years, strengthening the digital printing ecosystem in India.”
Industry stakeholders say the certification will not only enhance employability but also help entrepreneurs and printing presses reduce waste, improve productivity, and increase return on investment (ROI).
Jose Thomas, Principal Consultant at Future Schoolz, emphasized that the certification is a structured pathway to create experts. “The digital printing industry in India has reached a stage where skill is as important as technology. This program ensures higher productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction – creating not just operators but future leaders of digital print.”
Adding to this, Kulakkada Pradeep, CEO of Future Schoolz, highlighted the long-standing skill shortage in the industry, “This certification recognizes expertise and brings dignity to the profession, while strengthening the entire ecosystem of digital printing in India.”
India’s printing and packaging industry has been expanding rapidly, driven by demand in e-commerce, FMCG, and publishing.
Analysts estimate that the domestic digital printing market will experience double-digit growth over the next five years, creating a pressing demand for skilled professionals.
With the CDPS program, Canon India and Future Schoolz aim to set a benchmark for digital printing expertise, aligning India’s workforce with global industry standards.
