Cosmo Films debuts anti-fog lidding film for superior food presentation

The film is designed to improve product visibility on shelves.

INDIA – Cosmo Films has expanded its speciality packaging portfolio with the launch of a sealable, peelable transparent anti-fog BOPET lidding film aimed at refrigerated and fresh food applications.

The new biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET) film is engineered to enhance on-shelf product visibility by minimizing fogging, a common challenge in chilled and fresh food packaging.

Condensation inside packs can obscure contents, undermining consumer confidence and impacting purchase decisions in highly competitive retail environments.

According to the company, the film incorporates a specialized anti-fog coating on the sealable side, preventing the formation of condensation droplets within the pack.

By maintaining clarity throughout storage and display, the solution is designed to support stronger shelf appeal for products such as fresh produce, prepared fruits, ready meals, and chilled or frozen foods.

The lidding film is compatible with a broad range of container substrates, including PP, HIPS, PET (APET and CPET), PVC and LDPE, providing flexibility for converters and food processors operating across diverse packaging formats.

Its low sealing temperature makes it suitable for high-speed packaging lines, helping manufacturers maintain operational efficiency while upgrading pack performance.

In addition to anti-fog functionality, the peelable structure ensures ease of opening for consumers without compromising seal integrity.

This balance between secure sealing and user convenience aligns with growing demand for packaging that delivers both product protection and a positive end-user experience.

Kulbhushan Malik, global business head at Cosmo Films, noted that visibility plays a direct role in influencing purchasing decisions in food retail.

He added that the new film combines condensation control with high transparency, robust sealing performance and ease of use, reinforcing the company’s strategy to deliver value-added, high-performance speciality films.

The launch comes amid rising demand for advanced flexible packaging solutions in India’s rapidly modernizing food sector, where organized retail, cold chain expansion and ready-to-eat consumption trends are driving innovation in barrier and presentation technologies.

The portfolio includes BOPP, CPP and BOPET films tailored to meet stringent safety, barrier and durability requirements for both dry and wet pet food applications.

With its latest anti-fog lidding innovation, Cosmo Films is targeting brand owners seeking to differentiate through enhanced pack aesthetics and functionality, as food manufacturers increasingly prioritize visibility, convenience and processing efficiency in next-generation packaging designs.
