Guala Closures updates ALUSNAP Closure with new anti-counterfeit features

ITALY – Guala Closures has presented a revised version of its ALUSNAP closure system for premium spirits, adding embossing and debossing options alongside new tamper-evident elements designed to strengthen product protection.

The updated ALUSNAP retains its existing structure while introducing design and security enhancements. 

These include Guala Closures’ dual glass-ball anti-refill valve system, which aims to guard against unauthorised refilling over time. 

An integrated hook secures the pourer to the bottle neck, making forced removal more difficult and helping maintain product integrity. 

The revised platform can also include an Indicator, an additional visible tamper-evident feature designed to show whether the closure has already been opened. 

Together, these mechanisms address a persistent challenge in premium spirits, where counterfeiters refill genuine bottles with inferior liquid and resell them through legitimate retail channels.

Pourer Engineered for Consistent Flow and Reduced Drips

The pourer has been engineered to provide a steady and predictable flow, aiming to improve pouring consistency while limiting drips and product loss. 

This functional refinement matters for high-value spirits, where spillage represents both financial loss and a compromised serving experience. 

The aluminium exterior, combined with mechanical protection, has made ALUSNAP a fixture in the spirits sector for several years, particularly among brands seeking to balance premium aesthetics with verifiable security features.

Aluminium Shell Expands Finishing Options

The aluminium shell now allows a wider range of finishing options, including embossing, debossing and new surface textures. 

According to the company, these features provide more scope for design variation while making imitation more technically difficult. 

Combining decorative flexibility with anti-counterfeit engineering allows brands to differentiate products visually while raising barriers to replication. 

ALUSNAP is produced through Guala Closures’ manufacturing network, including sites in Italy, Ukraine, India and Bulgaria, giving the company capacity to serve spirits producers across multiple regions.

Leadership Cites Evolving Counterfeiting Threats

Andrea Lodetti, chief executive of Guala Closures, said being a leader in security solutions for premium spirits was not just about having invented the technology initially. 

He explained that it meant keeping a close eye on how the counterfeiting landscape was changing, understanding how sophisticated threats were becoming and evolving solutions accordingly. 

He noted that this was exactly what the company was doing with ALUSNAP, building on what worked while continuously adapting to meet new challenges. 

In May, Guala Closures unveiled MAGNEX, a closure for premium spirits made using electromagnetic forming technology, which uses high-velocity magnetic pulses to shape aluminium around a mould.
