Innonature launches cork-based alternative for bottle transit packaging

Suber Sleeve is lightweight making it easy to handle during packaging and transportation.

UAE – Innonature Packaging Solutions has introduced the Suber Sleeve, a protective transit packaging made from sustainably sourced cork, offering a renewable alternative to plastic-based bottle protection.

Developed from the by-products of cork harvesting, the Suber Sleeve is designed to safeguard wine and spirits bottles during transport while meeting Australia’s 2025 National Packaging Targets, which require all packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable.

According to Innonature, the cork sleeve offers several advantages that enhance both functionality and sustainability.

Its lightweight design makes it easy to handle during packaging and transportation, reducing strain on logistics while maintaining durability.

The sleeve is also moisture-resistant, ensuring that the product remains protected and its integrity preserved throughout storage and transit.

Beyond performance, the cork material is reusable and home compostable, aligning with growing consumer demand for eco-friendly and circular packaging solutions.

Another practical benefit is that the sleeves can be flat-packed, allowing for efficient storage and streamlined logistics.

This not only saves space but also reduces transportation costs, making it a smart and sustainable choice for brands and distributors alike.

In addition to transit protection, the Suber Sleeve can be customized with branding and features a QR code linking consumers to information on cork, circularity, and environmental impact.

Manufactured in Portugal under FSC certification, the Suber Sleeve extends the lifecycle of cork while supporting carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

Cork oak trees can be harvested every seven to nine years, up to 17 times in their lifespan, ensuring a long-term renewable supply chain.

The product has already secured its first retail listing at Dubai Duty Free, aligning with the retailer’s sustainability push and reflecting growing international demand for low-impact transit packaging.

Founded in 2023, Innonature Packaging Solutions is a female-led business with offices in the UAE, Portugal, and Australia.

The company focuses on packaging solutions that advance circular economy outcomes and reduce waste across global markets.
