Innovia’s new capabilities enable films with different coatings on each side, including proprietary print and adhesive-receptive layers, both essential for high-performance label constructions.

MEXICO – Innovia Films has expanded its manufacturing hub in Zacapu, Mexico, with new coating, metallizing, slitting and laboratory capabilities to produce advanced surface-engineered BOPP films for pressure-sensitive labels, aiming to strengthen local supply chains for North American converters and brand owners.
The Zacapu site now functions as a strategic production hub for advanced surface-engineered biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, enabling local production of high-performance coated and metallized pressure-sensitive label facestocks for customers across the Americas.
Aaron Henneger, VP and General Manager at Innovia Films Americas, stated that the company’s focus is on giving converters greater flexibility, choice, and responsiveness as the label market continues to evolve.
He added that combining proven base films with advanced coatings for printability, adhesive compatibility, and metallized barrier performance provides a more modular approach to label facestocks.
Modular Label Solutions and Sustainable Alternatives
The new capabilities allow Innovia to offer films with different functional coatings on each side, including proprietary print coatings and adhesive receptive coatings, both critical for high-performance label constructions.
These coated films are designed to be compatible with all industrial printing technologies, serving markets including food, beverage, home and personal care, and healthcare.
The company is advancing sustainable label solutions including floatable shrink sleeves, downgauged materials, linerless labels, and PCR-content films.
Downgauged materials reduce plastic consumption by weight, with 10 to 20 percent weight reduction possible depending on the application, directly supporting brand owners’ lightweighting goals.
Linerless labels eliminate the silicone-coated backing paper waste, reducing label waste and simplifying recycling while improving production efficiency and reducing material consumption across the supply chain.
LOUPE 2026 Showcase and Circular Economy Commitment
Innovia will showcase its expanded portfolio at LOUPE 2026 in Chicago (September 15–17), featuring live demonstrations of RayoFloat floatable shrink-sleeve technology and RayoFloat White.
RayoFloat technology enables sleeves to separate cleanly during the PET bottle recycling process, improving the quality of recycled flakes and increasing the yield of recyclate from the PET stream.
The Mexico expansion follows Innovia’s recent launch of P2G, a clear high gas transmission BOPP film for fresh produce packaging, and successful trials with PureCycle Technologies on white cavitated BOPP film containing more than 40 percent PCR content.
The expanded Mexico facility positions Innovia Films to serve the growing North American label market with regional manufacturing and advanced technical support, reducing lead times and increasing supply chain resilience for customers.
