GERMANY – Koenig & Bauer has launched a new digital printing press, MetJET ONE, to integrate into metal decorating production lines.

The MetJET ONE combines proven components from digital printing with advanced sheet handling and system engineering tailored for metal decoration.

The sheet handling system, developed by Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, is integrated with inkjet technology based on a Durst multi-pass printing unit.

Samuel Teufel, Product Manager at Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, explains, “The MetJET ONE makes it as easy as possible for our customers to enter the world of digitally printed metal packaging.

“The unique design enables us to create a customized solution that fits the flexibility and print quality requirements of our customers in the metal packaging industry.”

Koenig & Bauer emphasize the MetJET ONE’s modularity, allowing for flexible customization and design of the entire production line to meet the various demands of the packaging industry.

The line can be equipped with the full Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint portfolio, including the MetalCoat coating machine, inspection transport for checking images and overprint varnish, and sheet management systems for reliable sheet ejection, all aimed at maximizing efficiency and profitability.

The MetJET ONE will begin a field test in early 2025 in collaboration with Reynolds Services, Inc. This crucial step will validate the machine’s performance and reliability under real operating conditions.

In a recent development, Koenig & Bauer announced that Koenig & Bauer Lauvic had become a subsidiary, operating immediately through its branch office in Spain.

This move will enhance user benefits and enable more direct communication between business units, manufacturing plants, and the local office.

Sascha Fischer, who has held various managerial positions at Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed since 2010, has been appointed the new managing director of the group subsidiary.

Fischer was previously head of product management and marketing for sheetfed presses at Koenig & Bauer’s Radebeul location in Germany.

Koenig & Bauer Lauvic will continue to be responsible for sales and service for the sheetfed offset product portfolio, digital and web offerings, and CI flexo presses. A dedicated team of 20 staff members will cater to the needs of Spanish print companies.

The previous owners and managing directors, José Antonio Díaz and Juan Díaz, will remain involved with the company as advisers to the new management.
