SOUTH AFRICA – Kwality Holdings has partnered with Waste2Wear to introduce blockchain-verified recycled bags, textiles and packaging to South Africa, with each product featuring a QR code for full traceability and independent environmental impact verification.
The partnership, announced on 13 July 2026, offers reusable retail and shopping bags, hospitality uniforms, medical and workwear textiles, conference bags, backpacks, business accessories, and packaging products.
Waste2Wear’s RA-3 recycled-content verification technology is independently validated by German testing institute Wessling.
Every product includes a unique QR code and digital traceability record providing verified information on material origin, processing journey and environmental impact.
Measurable Environmental Impact and Blockchain Traceability
Waste2Wear’s solutions demonstrate reductions of up to 88 percent in energy consumption, 71 percent in carbon emissions, and 46 percent in water usage compared to conventional virgin-material production.
Products are manufactured from post-consumer recycled plastics with circular manufacturing, blockchain-enabled traceability and independently verified environmental impact reporting.
Shahzaadee Ballim, CEO of Kwality Holdings, stated that South Africa does not yet have this combination of circular manufacturing, traceability and independently verified environmental impact reporting operating together at scale, which is the gap the company believes Waste2Wear can address.
George Tsogas, CEO of Waste2Wear, added that the partnership with Kwality Holdings is a perfect fit to expand into the South African market.
The blockchain technology ensures that every step of the supply chain is recorded and immutable, providing brands and consumers with confidence that sustainability claims are backed by verifiable data rather than marketing assertions.
South Africa’s Circular Economy Opportunity
Ballim noted that the search for a solution began with a customer enquiry for sustainable shopping bags, and what initially started as a search for a product became a search for proof, ultimately resulting in a partnership built on a shared belief that sustainability only has real value when its impact can be measured, validated and trusted.
Kwality Holdings’ commercial director, Nicole Sykes, added that sustainability is a global challenge and every business has a responsibility to create meaningful and measurable impact.
The partnership, which is now active, aims to serve as a model for future localisation and circular economy expansion in South Africa.
By bringing independently verified recycled products to the market, the partnership addresses the growing demand from South African retailers and corporations for packaging and promotional items that meet international sustainability standards without compromising on quality or durability.
