GERMANY – German dairy firm Landliebe Molkereiprodukte has launched SIG’s combiSwift closure with tethered cap for its already existing combiblocSlimline carton packs.

The dairy firm has introduced UHT milk with SIG’s combiSwift TC under its Landliebe brand, which is available on shelves since the end of September 2022.

According to SIG, its combiSwift TC closure maintains convenience for consumers and is easy to use. The closures are also compatible with its existing filling lines and closure applicators.

The closure exhibits the flexibility and adaptability of the firm’s packaging and filling solutions for customers at a low cost, the packaging firm said.

SIG DACH & ISEEI senior marketing manager Frederic Faber said: “Our partner Landliebe is again the first to introduce another of our innovative sustainable packaging solutions.

“Being at the forefront of the food and beverage industry, together we can continuously improve and optimize solutions that benefit the environment.”

Faber further explained: “The first launch of our combiSwift TC closure is a great example. Our range of closures with tethered caps reassures customers like Landliebe that we remain the right partner to help them meet regulatory requirements and growing consumer and retailer demand for sustainable packaging.

“We’re proud to offer an effective and futureproof filling solution, which applies our new tethered caps, without any need for significant investment.”

SIG said that its combiSwift closure with a tethered cap can be firmly locked to the chosen position by pressing it down to the top of the pack until it clicks into its parking mode.

Customers can pour and drink from the carton without having to hold the cap firmly in place. The cap only needs to be elevated for normal closing; the packaging firm explained. The tethering ensures that the closure is always accessible and never goes missing.

The retail launch is ahead of the deadline set by the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive, which states that by July 2024, all single-use beverage containers must have caps attached.

The two firms have a strong partnership spanning many years, as both companies strive to continuously improve and lead the way in both production technologies and product ranges, to find innovative sustainable solutions.

Landliebe was one the first brands to market with SIG’s combibloc ECOPLUS packaging material without an aluminum layer, with less CO2 and a higher content of renewable raw material.
