TUNISIA – Pusterla 1880 has opened a second plant in Sousse, Tunisia, following a £4 million (US$5.0 million) investment that adds 10,000 square metres of automated and manual production capacity for rectangular boxes, round boxes and specialist luxury packs for global beauty, fragrance, premium drinks and jewellery brands.
Tunisia’s emergence as a major industrial hub with strong European connections has driven Pusterla 1880’s decision to establish a second manufacturing facility in the country.

How Proximity Strategy and Skilled Workforce Drive Tunisian Manufacturing Expansion
Pusterla 1880 UK business development manager Nathan Fage explained that Tunisia has increasingly established itself as a major industrial player with a skilled workforce and strong connections with Europe, making it an essential component of the company’s Proximity Strategy.
The strategy aims to keep the company close to customers geographically while maintaining service quality and flexibility for effective project development.
With 260 employees at the new site complementing the existing Tunisian operation, the group’s local workforce now totals approximately 600 people.
The official opening ceremony attracted significant diplomatic attention, with Andrea Prunas, Italy’s ambassador for Tunisia, and Mourad Fradi, president of the Tunisian Chamber of Commerce, both in attendance.
What Luxury Packaging Sustainability and EcoVadis Platinum Rating Mean for Brand Guardianship
The Pusterla 1880 group recently retained its EcoVadis Platinum rating, placing it in the top one percent of businesses globally assessed for sustainability performance.
Ongoing investment priorities include training, workplace safety, environmental responsibility and local skills development.
Fage emphasized that one of the key roles of luxury packaging is to provide effective brand guardianship, promoting, enhancing and protecting a product’s premium image and positioning.
He added that the new Tunisia factory will further enhance the company’s ability to match the right capability to each project while maintaining the quality and finish luxury brands demand.
Founded in 1880, Pusterla 1880 employs approximately 1,700 people across ten production sites worldwide and achieved global revenues of approximately €200 million (US$210 million) in 2025.
For UK customers, the Sousse plant complements existing capabilities at the company’s Dover operation, providing an integrated network spanning multiple continents to support rapid project execution from concept to shelf.
