The mono-material simplifies end-of-life waste management and packaging operations.

ITALY – Sorma Group has unveiled a new sustainable packaging solution, Sorma Clipless, at the 32nd edition of Fruit Logistica.
Designed for fruit and vegetable applications, the innovation combines recyclability, durability, and operational efficiency in a single mono-material design.
Unlike traditional net packaging that relies on metal closures or mixed materials, Sorma Clipless is made entirely from HDPE2 plastic, including both the net and the label.
This mono-material structure simplifies end-of-life management by allowing the entire pack to be recycled without separation, improving circularity and encouraging responsible consumer disposal.
“This innovation was developed for the European market, where environmental sustainability and streamlined packaging processes are key competitive factors,” said Mario Mercadini.
“Its technical and functional characteristics also make it suitable for international markets seeking efficiency, recyclability, and reduced environmental impact.”
Operational efficiency is another key advantage. By eliminating metal closures and accessory materials, Sorma Clipless reduces consumable management for operators while increasing productivity.
Packaging machines can achieve speeds of up to 30 packs per minute, ensuring continuity in operations and ease of use.
The packaging solution is versatile, supporting various fruit and vegetable formats ranging from 500g to 3kg, a higher weight capacity than most competing products, while maintaining ease of handling and high-quality presentation.
Its durability ensures it withstands transportation and handling stresses, making it suitable for a wide range of produce.
Sorma Group positions Clipless as a response to the growing global focus on sustainable packaging and the need for practical solutions that bridge environmental responsibility with operational performance.
By combining a fully recyclable structure with higher productivity and versatility, the innovation represents a significant step toward more circular post-harvest packaging solutions.
Industry observers note that mono-material packaging is increasingly becoming a key driver in the fruit and vegetable sector, enabling both brands and consumers to participate in recycling initiatives while maintaining efficiency and product quality.
Sorma Clipless joins a growing portfolio of sustainable packaging technologies aimed at reducing waste and improving resource efficiency across global supply chains.
