Under the partnership, Itochu Metals will collect used Daikin commercial air conditioners, oversee dismantling and separation of components such as heat exchangers and motors, and coordinate with specialised scrap processors to recover high-purity aluminium, iron and copper.

The centre will provide independent, research-backed support to SMEs transitioning to reusable, recyclable and compostable packaging solutions.

Participants were taken through practical sessions on plastic waste handling, recycling opportunities, occupational safety and environmental best practices.

AAI has proposed retaining the current 2.5% Basic Customs Duty on all aluminium scrap until BIS standards are notified and grade-wise HSN codes are introduced.
