Tournaire launches recyclable aluminium bottle range as industry pushes circular packaging

The new range is 7% lighter than standard aluminium bottles.

FRANCE – Packaging specialist Tournaire has unveiled its new Omni Plus range of aluminium bottles designed for easy recycling, as the company steps up efforts to support a circular packaging economy.

Crafted from mono-bloc aluminium, each bottle in the Omni Plus line is extruded from a single piece of metal, eliminating weak points often found in welded or joined structures.

This design enhances leak resistance, durability, and protection from contamination, making the bottles suitable for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and high-purity industrial liquids.

According to Tournaire, the new range is 7% lighter than standard aluminium bottles. The reduction is achieved through a precision deep-drawing process that allows micro-adjustments to wall thickness across the container, optimising strength while cutting weight and material use.

The bottles feature a closure system specifically engineered for easy disassembly and recycling. The collar and cap can be quickly separated after use, ensuring that both components can re-enter the recycling stream.

Since the body is made of pure aluminium, a material that can be recycled indefinitely, Tournaire says the solution meets the highest recyclability standards.

The Omni Plus range will be distributed exclusively in the UK through Invopak, serving growing demand from brands seeking lightweight, fully recyclable metal packaging.

Tournaire’s move aligns with a wider industry shift toward refillable and infinitely recyclable formats.

French beauty brand L’Occitane en Provence recently launched its Forever Bottle initiative, offering reusable aluminium containers and in-store refill stations for its liquid soaps, shampoos, and shower gels.

Customers can refill 250ml or 500ml bottles at equal pricing to the brand’s single-use alternatives, reducing packaging waste while enhancing brand loyalty.

Meanwhile, food start-up Dozz has introduced ready-to-eat chilled soups packaged in aluminium cans designed for direct consumption and full recyclability.

The cans offer a chilled shelf life of up to eight months, catering to convenience-driven consumers while reducing reliance on multilayer plastics.

Industry analysts note that aluminium’s high recyclability rate, up to 95% energy savings compared to primary production, has made it an increasingly preferred material for brands targeting circularity.

Tournaire’s Omni Plus range exemplifies how packaging innovation can balance functionality, durability, and sustainability in one design.

“By rethinking how materials are formed and reused, we’re helping industries transition toward a truly circular packaging model,” Tournaire stated in its launch announcement.
