Esin Güral Argat, Vice President of the Turkish Gürok Group, affirmed commitment to expanding its investments in the Egyptian market, describing Egypt as a major gateway for exports to the Middle East and Africa.

EGYPT – Turkish Gürok Group has announced plans to establish a new industrial project in Egypt spanning 150,000 square metres, specialising in glass tableware production and expected to create around 1,000 job opportunities, positioning Egypt as an export gateway to the Middle East and Africa.
The meeting between Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and the Gürok Group delegation reviewed the group’s plans to deploy the latest industrial technologies and implement advanced systems aimed at rationalising energy and water consumption while enhancing production efficiency.
Gürok Group is the world’s fifth-largest producer of glass products and exports to nearly 140 countries worldwide.
Strategic Importance for Packaging
Glass tableware may seem distant from industrial packaging, but the production technology, glass melting, forming, annealing, and finishing, is identical to that used for glass bottles and jars.
A glass tableware facility can be adapted to produce packaging containers, creating potential supply chain synergies for Egyptian beverage and food manufacturers.
The group’s expertise in energy and water efficiency is directly transferable to glass packaging production, where furnaces account for the majority of energy consumption.
Government Support and Incentives
Minister Hashem affirmed the ministry’s support for all manufacturers seeking to establish viable industries that contribute to technology transfer, job creation, and the development of local industrial capabilities.
He stated that the Egyptian government is fully prepared to provide the group with all necessary support to overcome any challenges it may face in establishing its factory in Egypt.
He also highlighted the investment incentives currently offered to the industrial sector, given its role as a key driver of comprehensive economic development.
Export Gateway Strategy
Esin Güral Argat, Vice President of the Turkish Gürok Group, affirmed commitment to expanding its investments in the Egyptian market, describing Egypt as a major gateway for exports to the Middle East and Africa.
Egypt’s location offers access to the African Continental Free Trade Area and proximity to European markets.
For a manufacturer exporting to nearly 140 countries, an Egyptian production base adds redundancy to Turkish capacity while serving regional customers with shorter lead times.
When Glass Flows Both Ways
A glass tableware factory is not a packaging plant. But the furnaces, forming lines, and quality control systems are identical.
Gürok Group’s 150,000 square metre Egyptian facility could, with relatively modest retooling, produce bottles and jars for the region’s beverage industry.
For Egypt, that optionality is as valuable as the 1,000 jobs.
