Bambrew aims to double its production capacity, invest in research and development, and expand its footprint into North America and the Middle East, two key regions with growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
INDIA – Indian sustainable packaging innovator Bambrew has raised Rs90 crore (US$10.3 million) in a significant funding round, reinforcing its mission to eliminate single-use plastics through nature-based alternatives.
The funding was led by Ashok Goel, former Managing Director of Essel Propack, with additional backing from ENRISSION INDIA CAPITAL, a Japanese venture capital firm focused on environmental innovations.
This new investment comes at a pivotal time for the startup, which already serves over 500 clients including major brands such as Shoppers Stop, Puma, and Global Desi.
With the new capital infusion, Bambrew aims to double its production capacity, invest in research and development, and expand its footprint into North America and the Middle East, two key regions with growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
Founded by Vaibhav Anant, Bambrew has developed a niche in manufacturing home-compostable packaging products derived from bamboo fibre, seaweed, agricultural waste, and recycled paper.
These innovations are part of the company’s broader mission to replace petroleum-based plastics with environmentally benign materials across industries.
Bambrew’s current product portfolio includes garment bags, recyclable films that can replace aluminium laminates, and custom B2B packaging solutions.
With the new funding, the company plans to scale its product range, further develop biodegradable and compostable innovations, and improve the supply chain required for mass production.
According to co-founder Kunal Prasad, Bambrew is also preparing to enter the direct-to-consumer (D2C) market, enabling eco-conscious households to purchase its sustainable packaging directly.
This marks a strategic diversification from its current B2B focus, aiming to influence consumer behavior alongside institutional clients.
This latest round follows a Series A raise of US$7.19 million in April 2024, bringing total funding to over US\$17 million in just over a year.
The company also plans to grow its workforce to support its production and expansion efforts.
As the global call to phase out plastic intensifies, especially in e-commerce, fashion, and FMCG sectors, Bambrew’s model stands out for its circular approach, scalable manufacturing, and focus on alternative raw materials.
The company’s expansion into international markets positions it as one of India’s leading contributors to the global shift toward sustainable packaging solutions.
