Belgian mineral water brand Ginstberg adopts Amcor’s lightweight tamper-evident closure for reusable glass bottles

The closure’s ISCC+ certification enables full traceability of recycled content, helping Ginstberg meet evolving regulatory requirements for packaging circularity.

BELGIUM – Ginstberg has adopted Amcor’s 28mm tamper-evident closure with patented lightweight structure for its natural mineral water bottles, combining product protection with easy opening and reclosing for consumers while supporting circularity through ISCC+ certification.

The Belgian mineral water brand, sourced from the edge of the Flemish Ardennes and officially classified as natural mineral water with no additives, selected Amcor’s 28mm Flat Cap for Glass Tamper Evident closure for its ability to handle carbonation levels of up to 4.3 volume.

Lightweight Design and ISCC+ Certification Support Refillable Bottle Systems

As Europe accelerates Deposit Return Schemes and strengthens refillable packaging legislation, closures that perform reliably on reusable bottles are becoming a strategic investment for water brands.

Amcor’s closure portfolio, including the 28mm Flat Cap for Glass TE, 28mm PolyVent and 28mm PolyGuard models, is already proven on reusable bottle systems, supporting circularity and compliance across European markets.

The closure’s ISCC+ certification enables full traceability of recycled content, helping Ginstberg meet evolving regulatory requirements for packaging circularity.

Consumer Experience and Tamper Evidence Drive Packaging Choice

Ginstberg COO Evi Van De Velde stated that the consumer experience begins with the packaging, making it essential that the closure is durable, reliable and easy to open and reclose while offering reassurance of tamper evidence.

Amcor’s Global Rigid Packaging Solutions product line manager Uli Kolbert noted that the closure is the consumer’s first interaction with the packaging and plays an important role in delivering consumer acceptance and brand loyalty.

The closure forms part of Amcor’s broader portfolio for still and sparkling products across glass and plastic bottles in various sizes.

Amcor’s Continued Investment in Sustainable Packaging Innovation

The Ginstberg agreement follows Amcor’s recent collaboration with UK start-up Kelpi to explore seaweed-based coating solutions for fibre packaging, demonstrating the packaging giant’s continued investment in sustainable innovation across its global portfolio.

Amcor’s approach combines lightweight material design, circular principles, and traceability systems to help brand owners achieve sustainability targets while maintaining product integrity and consumer appeal.

The 28mm Flat Cap’s patented lightweight structure delivers material savings without compromising performance, supporting both environmental goals and operational efficiency for beverage brands transitioning to refillable packaging systems.
