Dulsco Environment expands Sevens Stadium partnership to drive event waste diversion

UAE – Dubai-based Dulsco Group has strengthened its collaboration with Emirates-owned Sevens Stadium, extending its waste management remit through Dulsco Environment in a multi-year agreement running until 2027.

The expanded partnership positions Dulsco Environment as the official waste management partner for the venue, supporting both the iconic Emirates Dubai 7s festival and year-round stadium operations.

The move builds on a successful three-year collaboration between 2022 and 2024, during which Dulsco Environment delivered waste management services exclusively for the annual Dubai 7s festival weekend.

Following consistently improving diversion outcomes, the partnership was broadened at the end of 2025 to cover all waste management activities at The Sevens Stadium, enabling a more integrated and standardized sustainability approach.

The enhanced collaboration has already delivered record results. The 2025 Emirates Dubai 7s festival achieved the highest landfill diversion rate in the event’s history, with 103.5 tonnes of waste collected over three days.

Of this total, 57.05 tonnes were recovered as recyclables and 32.5 tonnes were diverted to Waste-to-Energy facilities, resulting in an overall landfill diversion rate of 86%.

General compactable waste and mixed recyclables represented the dominant waste streams, with the top recovered recyclable materials including glass, cardboard (OCC), mixed plastics, PET and aluminium cans.

The 2025 performance marks a significant improvement compared to previous editions. In 2024, the event generated 78.7 tonnes of waste, achieving a diversion rate of 78%, while in 2023, 95.35 tonnes were collected with a diversion rate of 72.7%.

Mathew Tait, General Manager of The Sevens Stadium and Festival Director of Emirates Dubai 7s, said the expanded partnership has enabled closer coordination across suppliers and operations.

He noted that landfill diversion has increased by nearly 20% in just two years, aligning with the sustainability vision of UAE leadership and Dubai Municipality.

Antony Marke, Interim CEO at Dulsco Environment, highlighted the importance of operational collaboration in delivering measurable sustainability outcomes.

He said working closely with facilities management teams has helped maximize recycling rates, reduce landfill dependency and improve operational efficiency across the venue.

Dulsco Environment’s scope includes waste segregation and disposal, supported by dedicated infrastructure such as segregated bins for general, recyclable, food and medical waste, refuse collection vehicles, and trained on-site teams overseeing collection across all event zones.

The partnership reflects a wider trend across the UAE events and hospitality sector, where venues are increasingly adopting long-term waste management strategies aligned with national sustainability goals.

With major events under growing pressure to demonstrate measurable environmental performance, integrated waste management models such as this are emerging as a benchmark for sustainable event delivery in the region.
