GERMANY – Syntegon is expanding its coffee packaging portfolio by introducing the PMX 4001 vertical bagger, designed specifically for ground coffee and whole beans.
This new addition to the PMX series offers the same proven product protection and high-quality packaging as its predecessors but within a significantly smaller footprint.
Notably, the PMX 4001 is versatile in its ability to process both conventional and recyclable packing materials, addressing the evolving needs of manufacturers as they prepare for the European Union’s Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) set to take effect in 2030.
Christina Holm, Product Manager at Syntegon, emphasizes that while meeting regulatory requirements is crucial, maintaining aroma protection and packaging quality remains paramount for coffee producers. The PMX 4001 aims to help manufacturers achieve these goals.
Visitors to Fachpack 2024, scheduled from September 24 to 26, will see a 3D animation of the PMX 4001 in action at Syntegon’s booth.
Additionally, Syntegon will showcase its mono-material VIS 10F coffee degassing valves, which the Cyclos-HTP institute recently certified as recyclable across Europe.
These innovations highlight Syntegon’s commitment to sustainability, which was a key focus during the development of the PMX 4001.
The PMX 4001 was designed from the ground up with sustainability in mind, capable of processing alternative packaging materials at high outputs—up to 65 bags per minute with a pack weight of 500 grams.
The machine features innovative sealing technology and gentle ultrasonic technology for applying recyclable degassing valves.
Recognizing the complexity of selecting environmentally friendly packaging materials, Syntegon offers comprehensive support to manufacturers.
This includes packaging material testing in their in-house laboratory, as well as practical tests on the machine.
Syntegon also provides certified mono-material degassing valves that offer excellent recyclability, ensuring that coffee packaging is both sustainable and protective of aroma.
The PMX 4001 is not just about sustainability; it also excels in quality and efficiency. The machine is engineered for gentle product handling, integrated valve application, and gas flushing to minimize residual oxygen, which are crucial for preserving coffee aroma and extending shelf life.
The precision of the sealing seams ensures a high-quality product appearance, which is particularly important for premium coffee brands.
Despite its advanced capabilities, the PMX 4001 is the most compact machine in the series, with a footprint of just 2.6 by 2.1 meters. This makes it ideal for manufacturers with limited space.
In addition to its compact design and sustainability features, the PMX 4001 is equipped with Synexio Empower. In real-time, this Industry 4.0 solution monitors all machine functions, including energy and resource consumption.
This feature allows manufacturers to optimize their production processes for greater resource efficiency. Syntegon further supports coffee manufacturers with turnkey packaging solutions that cover every step of the process, including secondary packaging with Elematic case packers.
These offerings ensure that coffee producers can package their products sustainably now and, in the future, providing them with seamless and future-proof solutions.
