The 60° concept stands out with its triangular box design — an innovative structure with each base angled at precisely 60 degrees.

GERMANY – LEONHARD KURZ, a global leader in thin-film technology and surface finishing, unveiled its award-winning “60° – creative boxes to inspire” packaging concept.
Developed in collaboration with premium paper manufacturer Koehler Paper, the concept highlights how cutting-edge finishing techniques and sustainable materials can converge to redefine luxury packaging.
The 60° concept stands out with its triangular box design — an innovative structure with each base angled at precisely 60 degrees.
What sets this packaging apart is its sophisticated plug-in system, which eliminates the need for glue, ensuring an eco-friendlier, recyclable solution.
It also offers functional elegance, aligning with both environmental consciousness and high-end aesthetic demands in sectors such as cosmetics, spirits, and boutique publishing.
This special edition featured four premium cardboard boxes crafted using Koehler Eco® and Koehler ICEWHITE IQ® digital printing paper.
These papers not only underscore the visual brilliance of the boxes but also meet stringent environmental standards. Koehler Eco® paper is made from 100% recycled materials, bears the Blue Angel and EU Ecolabel certifications, and offers exceptional lightfastness and abrasion resistance.
Meanwhile, ICEWHITE IQ® ensures brilliant color reproduction and crisp imagery, making it ideal for detailed, high-quality digital printing.
Inside the set, the “View what’s next” slipcase houses four leporello (accordion-fold) panels, each representing a distinct trend theme.
These include visual explorations of current social and cultural movements, captured through texture, foil, embossing, and color.
The finishing touches were made using tools from Hinderer + Mühlich (H+M), a KURZ subsidiary, showcasing the firm’s continued investment in advanced embossing technologies.
KURZ’s concept follows a wider industry trend of combining eco-design with luxury aesthetics. Similar innovations have been seen in recent years, such as Metsä Board’s glueless gift boxes and the “Touch of Luxury” series by Sappi and BOBST.
At previous LUXE PACK events, brands like Fedrigoni and Avery Dennison also explored the intersection of tactile paper surfaces, smart finishing, and sustainable credentials, signaling growing demand for packaging that’s both conscious and captivating.
With its 60° concept, KURZ reaffirms its commitment to innovative, trend-driven packaging. By choosing Koehler’s sustainable, high-performance papers, the concept not only dazzles visually but also sets a benchmark for future-forward packaging that doesn’t compromise on quality or responsibility.
