The move will increase the plant’s packaging capacity by 50%.

MEXICO – SIG, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, is reinforcing its strategic presence in North America with a major expansion of its high-tech aseptic carton production plant in Querétaro, Mexico.
Less than two years after the facility began operations in early 2023, SIG has announced an additional investment of US$35 million, with new production lines expected to be operational by the second half of 2026.
This marks the first expansion phase of the Querétaro plant and underlines SIG’s long-term commitment to its markets across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central America.
The move will increase the plant’s packaging capacity by 50%, enabling SIG to meet rising regional demand for innovative, sustainable, and flexible packaging – especially in the small-volume and single-serve segments.
Once expanded, the plant will produce six core carton formats: SIG MiniBloc, SIG XSlimBloc, SIG PremiumBloc, SIG MaxiBloc, SIG MagnumBloc, and SIG Midi, spanning volumes from 80 ml to 2 liters.
These formats are especially well-suited for a range of products from dairy and plant-based beverages to juices and liquid foods.
The company’s advanced filling lines offer high-speed format and volume changeovers, empowering customers to adapt quickly to evolving consumer preferences.
“North America is a strategic growth region for SIG,” said Ricardo Rodriguez, President and General Manager Americas at SIG.
“This expansion reflects our belief in the region’s long-term potential. Our Querétaro facility has quickly become a world-class production hub, and we’re now scaling it to better serve our customers with speed, flexibility, and sustainability at the core.”
The Querétaro site stands among SIG’s most advanced globally, built to high environmental, technological, and safety standards.
It also houses a Reliability & Performance Center, opened in February 2025, which uses remote monitoring and smart support systems to enhance machine uptime and efficiency across customer sites.
The latest expansion will create more than 50 new jobs, adding to the 250 already generated since the plant’s inception.
“Our team is proud to set benchmarks in operational excellence,” noted Eugen Schreiber, Head of Plant Operations in Querétaro.
“This next phase boosts not only our output but also our role in regional economic development.”
This move follows a series of capacity expansions in SIG’s global network, including recent upgrades to its plants in Suzhou, China, and Linnich, Germany.
As demand for aseptic, eco-conscious packaging grows, SIG’s Querétaro plant is set to become a cornerstone for agile and localized supply in the Americas.
