Tetra Pak introduces Tetra Prisma Aseptic 300 Edge beverage carton

SWITZERLAND – Tetra Pak has introduced the innovative Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 300 Edge carton, developed in collaboration with a leading European brand in the juices, nectars, and soft drinks market.

This new packaging solution features a sleek, ergonomic design tailored to meet the growing consumer demand for taller, slimmer packages, reflecting a “less is more” approach that blends simplicity with functionality.

With minimalist designs gaining popularity, the Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 300 Edge stands out with its paper-based structure.

According to Tetra Pak, the carton is visually appealing and engineered for ease of use.

Its ergonomic shape makes it comfortable to hold, especially for smaller hands, while its wide opening ensures a smooth, steady flow for easy drinking. Its compact size is also ideal for on-the-go consumption, making it a practical choice for busy lifestyles.

Beyond convenience, the Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 300 Edge carton is designed with sustainability in mind. The package includes a slanted top and the DreamCap™ 26 Pro tethered closure, which keeps the cap attached to the carton.

This feature helps reduce litter and simplifies recycling, as consumers can easily dispose of both the cap and carton together. This innovative design aligns with environmental goals, minimizing waste and promoting responsible recycling habits.

A European juice brand has taken further steps toward sustainability by increasing the carton’s renewable content to over 85%.

This move resulted in a 76% reduction in the package’s carbon footprint, achieved through the use of FSC™-certified paperboard and plant-based polymers derived from responsibly sourced sugarcane.

Research from Harvard Business Review supports the idea that the packaging’s eco-friendly nature is particularly appealing to younger, environmentally conscious consumers.

Reducing food waste with smart packaging solutions

Beyond design and sustainability, smart packaging can play a crucial role in reducing food waste. Innovations like Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) protect products during transport and storage, extending their shelf life and keeping them fresh longer.

MAP also enables quality control, safeguarding products from pests, diseases, and contamination without the need for harmful chemicals.

In Vietnam’s Sustainable Product Innovation Project, MAP was applied to over 1,000 small-scale farmers, resulting in significant reductions in post-harvest food waste—from 30-40% down to 15-20%.

By using fewer resources and maintaining food quality, smart packaging solutions like MAP offer a promising way to address the global food waste challenge.
