Goplasticpallets.com’s new 8.3kg plastic pallet slashes airfreight weight, wood waste

UK – goplasticpallets.com has introduced the SF 800 PEL Euro-format plastic pallet in the UK, weighing just 8.3kg and offering a lightweight alternative to conventional wooden pallets for logistics operations including exports, airfreight and automated handling systems.

The pallet, measuring 1,200mm × 800mm × 145mm, is available in either 100% recycled high-density polyethylene or virgin material for companies with specific hygiene requirements. 

Its racking load capacity is up to 200kg, and at end of life, the pallet can be fully recycled.

The SF 800 PEL complies with ISPM15 rules, eliminating the need for heat treatment required for wooden pallets used in overseas shipping. 

Design Features and Operational Benefits

The pallet features three closed runners and uniform dimensions, making it suitable for automated handling systems. Its dimensions match a standard wooden Euro pallet, allowing companies to transition without altering pallet specifications. 

The design avoids common issues associated with wooden pallets, including debris, exposed nails and splinters that can affect workplace safety, goods protection and cleanliness in warehouse and production environments. 

The lightweight construction reduces transport weight and associated fuel costs, making it particularly advantageous for airfreight and export logistics where weight directly impacts shipping expenses. 

With rising fuel costs and tightening carbon regulations, the SF 800 PEL offers logistics managers a tangible way to reduce their environmental footprint while cutting operational expenses.

Industry Applications and Market Positioning

Sales director Dan Starnes stated that the SF 800 PEL is the lightest Euro plastic pallet currently available on the market, giving logistics and operations managers greater choice when optimising supply chains and reducing transport weight. 

He noted that the pallet is particularly well suited for applications where medium-duty pallets with runners exceed what the task actually requires, offering a more efficient and cost-effective alternative without compromising on performance. 

The pallet is ideal for a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, food processing and packaging, where hygiene, consistency and reliability are critical throughout storage and distribution. 

The launch follows goplasticpallets.com’s introduction of two foldable pallet boxes last month for large or irregularly shaped goods. 

The SF 800 PEL’s 100% recycled HDPE option also helps companies meet their sustainability targets by incorporating post-consumer waste into their supply chains, creating a closed-loop solution for plastic pallets.
