Aptar’s new E-commerce closures for beauty packaging support recycling, transit protection

The closures are designed to reduce leakage, withstand parcel shipping and improve the consumer unboxing experience as e-commerce continues to grow.

USA – Aptar Closures has introduced Embrace, E-Simplicity, Future Disc Top and E-Disc Top closures for beauty, personal care and home care products, designed to protect products during online fulfilment while supporting recycling goals and delivering a positive unboxing experience.

The four closures, announced on July 8, 2026, all passed Amazon ISTA-6 robustness testing and are available in post-consumer recycled versions.

The launch responds to social media platforms now driving 68% of global beauty sales and e-commerce representing nearly half of total beauty sales, with 61% of global beauty shoppers stating environmental sustainability influences their purchasing decisions.

Closure Portfolio Addresses Transit Damage and Recycling Goals

Embrace is a premium flip-top closure that protects against side impacts, accidental openings and leakage during transit while preserving a high-end appearance with custom logo capabilities.

E-Simplicity features a visible tear band and back-off resistant thread to show first opening while eliminating the need for liners, shrink bands and other packaging components.

Future Disc Top is a polyethylene mono-material disc top closure that is fully recyclable when paired with PE or PET bottles and includes a locking ring that provides secure closure status indication.

Future Disc Top has achieved a Class A rating from the EU’s RecyClass sustainability validation organization and certification from Cyclos-HTP. E-Disc Top incorporates a concealed mechanism to keep products secure during shipping, operating like a standard disc top after first opening while reducing the need for added packaging components.

The availability of PCR versions across all four closures enables brands to incorporate recycled content into their packaging without compromising performance or aesthetic quality.

Market Impact and Industry Context

Aptar Closures beauty, personal care and home care market leader Maria Vázquez-Ricote stated that e-commerce has fundamentally changed how packaging must function, and brands are looking for solutions that reduce excess packaging waste, simplify packaging and perform reliably in transit while delivering a flawless, social media-proof unboxing experience.

The closures are designed to reduce leakage, withstand parcel shipping and improve the consumer unboxing experience as e-commerce continues to grow.

As online retail channels expand globally, packaging manufacturers face increasing pressure to develop solutions that balance product protection, sustainability and consumer experience.

Aptar’s closures, certified for ISTA-6 performance and available with recycled content, provide a ready-to-use option for brands seeking to meet these demands across multiple distribution channels.
