The partnership strengthens local access to linerless labelling systems as demand grows for packaging formats that can improve production efficiency and reduce material use.

AUSTRALIA – Ravenwood Packaging has appointed Wedderburn Australia as an approved distributor and printer partner for its Nobac linerless labelling machinery, with Wedderburn investing in a Com500 coating system to locally produce linerless labels that eliminate backing paper waste and improve recyclability.
Under the agreement, Wedderburn will distribute Ravenwood’s Nobac range of linerless labelling machinery across Australia and invest in a Com500 linerless coating system.
The investment enables Wedderburn to produce linerless labels locally, giving Australian customers access to Ravenwood machinery, coated label materials and regional technical support through a single supplier.
Founded in 1896, Wedderburn supplies labels, labelling equipment, weighing systems, packaging machinery and food-processing technologies across Australia and New Zealand.
Linerless Technology Eliminates Backing Paper Waste and Supports Recycling Goals
The partnership strengthens local access to linerless labelling systems as demand grows for packaging formats that can improve production efficiency and reduce material use.
Linerless labels eliminate the silicone-coated backing paper (liner) that is typically discarded as waste, significantly reducing packaging waste and improving recyclability.
The Com500 coating system applies silicone release strips and hot-melt adhesive to pre-printed substrates in a single pass, enabling efficient production of linerless labels.
Ravenwood managing director Paul Beamish stated that Australia represents an important growth market for linerless technology, and by combining Ravenwood’s machinery and coating technology with Wedderburn’s market presence, the companies are creating a platform to support customers looking to improve efficiency, reduce waste and adopt more sustainable labelling practices.
The Australian packaging industry is increasingly focused on reducing waste and improving recyclability, making the availability of local linerless label production a key enabler for sustainability goals.
Sustainability Commitment and Market Expansion
Wedderburn supports initiatives to reduce packaging waste and improve recyclability, including the use of FSC-certified materials and participation in circular economy programs such as RedCycle and RafCycle.
Wedderburn executive chairman Philip Wedderburn stated that the partnership represents an exciting step forward in delivering innovative and sustainable labelling solutions to the Australian market, and that together the companies look forward to helping Australian businesses access proven linerless solutions that support greater efficiency, reduced waste and improved sustainability outcomes.
The partnership also strengthens the local supply chain by reducing reliance on imported linerless labels.
The shift to linerless labels also reduces transportation weight and storage requirements, lowering the overall carbon footprint of the label supply chain and supporting broader environmental objectives.
