The 10th edition of the North African trade fair will bring together global technology providers and regional manufacturers as Algeria accelerates investment in modern plastics and packaging production.

ALGERIA – The upcoming edition of Plast & Printpack Alger is set to highlight recycling technologies, sustainable materials, and advanced manufacturing solutions as the region strengthens its industrial capabilities and expands its plastics and packaging sectors.
Scheduled to take place from 30 March to 1 April in Algiers, the exhibition will mark its tenth edition and is expected to host more than 280 exhibitors from 22 countries at the Palais des Expositions – Safex.
The event is organized by Fairtrade Messe in cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf.
Serving as a major B2B platform for the plastics, print, and packaging industries in North Africa, the exhibition attracts equipment manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and technology providers from across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Organizers say the strong international participation reflects growing global interest in Algeria’s industrial development and expanding manufacturing base.
Key themes for the 2026 event include recycling technologies, circular economy solutions, resource-efficient production processes, and sustainable materials.
The focus aligns with Algeria’s strategy to modernize its industrial infrastructure while promoting more sustainable manufacturing practices.
The exhibition is also expected to support investment in advanced production equipment, strengthen local value chains, and reduce reliance on imported finished products by encouraging domestic processing capabilities.
Among the returning participants is Sonatrach, which confirmed its participation following its debut at the 2025 edition.
The involvement of the national energy group highlights the increasing importance of integrated value chains in the plastics industry, from petrochemical raw materials to downstream manufacturing and packaging applications.
Recent industry data underscores Algeria’s growing role as a key market for industrial technology.
Imports of plastics processing machinery increased by an average of 34.6% annually between 2020 and 2024, making Algeria the largest importer of plastics technology in Africa.
The country is also a major importer of packaging machinery and related technologies, with packaging equipment imports estimated at approximately €225 million.
Other sectors experiencing growth include plastic pipe manufacturing, printing technologies, and paper processing equipment, reflecting rising demand across construction, consumer goods, and industrial sectors.
Plast & Printpack Alger is supported by several international trade organizations and industry associations, including Amaplast, VDMA, Italian Trade Agency, and Turkish Ministry of Trade.
With dedicated exhibition segments covering plastics machinery, packaging systems, printing technologies, and raw materials, the event will provide a comprehensive overview of emerging technologies shaping the region’s plastics and packaging industries.
Across North Africa, industry observers note a growing shift toward modernized production systems and recycling-driven circular economy models.
Trade fairs such as Plast & Printpack Alger are increasingly viewed as key platforms for connecting regional manufacturers with global technology providers and accelerating industrial transformation.
