Siegwerk’s new US$75.4M Bhiwadi plant to become global packaging ink hub

INDIA – Siegwerk has invested ₹630 crore (US$75.4 million) in its Rajasthan operations and plans to expand its Bhiwadi facility into its largest global manufacturing hub, with annual production capacity of 35,000 metric tonnes and an India Global Capability Centre for international solutions.

The Germany-based packaging inks manufacturer, completing 20 years of operations in India in 2026, plans further investments in manufacturing, technology, innovation and research and development. 

The Bhiwadi facility, spread over 19 acres and employing around 600 people, currently has an annual production capacity of 35,000 metric tonnes. 

Ashish Pradhan, President of Siegwerk Asia, stated that the Rajasthan facility is set to play a bigger role in the company’s global operations, with the site being expanded to add capacity and automation and expected to become Siegwerk’s largest Centre of Excellence worldwide.

Global Capability Centre and Innovation Focus

The company is developing its India Global Capability Centre at Bhiwadi as a platform to create solutions and expertise for markets outside India. 

Pradhan noted that the company is expanding manufacturing capacity and developing higher-value capabilities in technology, engineering, innovation and research and development. 

He added that the focus now is to further strengthen the network and build capabilities that enable the company to serve not only the Indian market but customers and businesses across Asia and around the world. 

The company, a manufacturer of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, operates in more than 30 countries. 

Siegwerk’s investment comes as India’s packaging inks market, which was valued at ₹7,650 crore (US$91.6 million) in 2024, is projected to reach ₹12,650 crore (US$151.5 million) by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 6.01 percent, with flexible packaging driving demand. 

The expansion of the Bhiwadi facility into a Centre of Excellence is expected to strengthen India’s position as a manufacturing and R&D hub in Siegwerk’s global network. 

Pradhan emphasised that the company is committed to expanding its footprint in India, with further investments planned for technology and innovation to support customers with sustainable packaging solutions across the region.
