The deal, finalized in February 2025, marks a major step for FPP, which previously operated as a film brokerage.

USA – Flexible Packaging Partners has finalized its purchase of New Tech Plastics, an Ohio-based manufacturer known for its blown film products.
The deal, completed in February 2025, brings together expertise in flexible packaging with a focus on custom solutions for various industries.
According to company officials, the acquisition aims to expand production capacity at New Tech Plastics’ facility in Covington, Ohio.
The firm currently operates 15 blown film lines and generates annual sales of around US$25 million.
Flexible Packaging Partners plans to double the site’s blown film output over the next five to seven years through equipment upgrades and operational improvements.
Shawn Turner, a partner at Flexible Packaging Partners, highlighted the strategic fit in a statement.
“We’ve been eyeing New Tech Plastics for years due to its strong reputation in film extrusion,” he said.
Turner, who previously worked in packaging investments, teamed up with Jonah Sandler and Les Sandler to establish Flexible Packaging Partners specifically for this opportunity.
New Tech Plastics, founded more than 45 years ago by John Weikert, Bill Weikert, Buck Siler, and Lew Coppock, has built a legacy of employee-focused operations and community involvement.
Under the new ownership, the company intends to maintain these values while pursuing growth.
Officials noted that the integration will prioritize innovation in product development to meet customer demands for efficient packaging.
In terms of sustainability, New Tech Plastics offers eco-friendly options, including its Channel Product line made from 100% recycled scrap materials.
These non-FDA films and bags provide recyclable alternatives that help reduce waste without compromising quality.
The firm also emphasizes lightweight materials and proper film sizing to minimize environmental impact in packaging applications.
A report from industry sources indicates that the acquisition enhances Flexible Packaging Partners’ ability to deliver custom blown films, thin gauge products, and sustainable solutions.
This includes supporting clients in food, industrial, and retail sectors with materials that promote recyclability and cost savings.
As an update, in May 2025, the DPA Buying Group added New Tech Plastics as a preferred supplier, recognizing its contributions to the packaging sector.
This move expands distribution channels and reinforces the company’s market presence following the ownership change.
Jonah Sandler, another partner, expressed optimism about the future in a brief comment. “This partnership allows us to scale operations and introduce new technologies,” he said.
The team plans to invest in the Covington site to boost efficiency and output.
