USA – Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, has introduced a new pizza box design that can be transformed into a miniature table.

The “Moving Box Table,” made from a red checkered corrugated structure, easily folds into a sturdy base, turning the pizza box into a convenient tabletop.

This creative solution addresses the common issue of lacking furniture during a move, allowing customers to assemble a mini table in just a few simple steps.

The new packaging is available as a complimentary addition with purchasing a large menu-priced pizza at select locations in Dallas, Charlotte, and Orlando.

This limited-edition offer, exclusive to carry-out orders, will be available starting August 27, 2024, while supplies last.

This initiative is a response to the high demand for pizza on moving days. A survey commissioned by Pizza Hut in July 2024, which included 1,069 Americans aged 18 and older, found that 85% consider pizza the best meal option during a move, and 87% have ordered pizza on moving day.

Melissa Friebe, Pizza Hut’s Chief Marketing Officer, commented, “Moving can be chaotic, and the last thing you want to worry about is unpacking just to enjoy a well-deserved meal.

“We love that pizza is a universal moving-day tradition for many, but we hate that it often ends up being eaten on the floor.

“The Moving Box Table helps us support our customers by providing not only a delicious pizza after a stressful moving day but also a comfortable and easy place to enjoy it.”

In related news, McDonald’s franchisee Arcos Dorados has recently adopted biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable packaging for its bags and burger wrappers.

J&J Green Paper has developed the new packaging dubbed JANUS.

This 100% renewably sourced material is biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable, offering a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based polyethylene.

JANUS creates a natural barrier against grease, water, and oxygen, making it ideal for various food packaging applications.

This initiative aims to reduce reliance on single-use plastics and PFAS chemicals, marking a significant step toward more sustainable packaging in the fast-food industry and combating the harmful effects of plastic waste.
