FINLAND – Stora Enso and ECOR Global have partnered to launch a fully bio-based, formaldehyde-free board, setting a new sustainability benchmark in the board and panel industry.
This innovative product replaces fossil-based binders with Stora Enso’s NeoLigno, a bio-based alternative that eliminates harmful chemicals while maintaining high performance.
NeoLigno addresses the increasing demand for safer, more sustainable materials, particularly furniture and flooring manufacturing.
Its integration into ECOR Global’s new product line sets a new benchmark for environmentally friendly solutions in the industry.
This collaboration highlights both companies’ commitment to sustainability and innovation. By replacing traditional binders with NeoLigno, ECOR Global has created a product free from formaldehyde and isocyanates, reducing health risks while enhancing recyclability.
“This partnership showcases how our bio-based solutions can unlock new opportunities for our clients while benefiting people and the planet,” said Tuomo Heikkinen, VP Head of Biochemicals and Lignin Applications at Stora Enso.
“With NeoLigno, we’re helping companies like ECOR Global create safer, more sustainable materials.”
ECOR Global’s COO, Roberto Reyes, echoed the sentiment, “This launch is a major milestone in our journey toward sustainability.
“NeoLigno has enabled us to develop a fully bio-based and recyclable product that meets industry standards and sets new health and environmental performance benchmarks.”
The new board is highly versatile, making it ideal for furniture, flooring, and exhibition materials at trade shows.
Production is underway, and the product will debut at the Stockholm Furniture Fair from February 4–8, providing a global platform to showcase its potential.
