WeighPack Systems targets higher throughput with automated multi-pack jar filling for cannabis pre-rolls

CANADA – WeighPack Systems has expanded its automation portfolio with the launch of the Turnkey JuanaPack Pre-Roll Multi-Pack Jar Filling System, developed in collaboration with Canapa Solutions.

The new solution is designed to help cannabis producers increase throughput while maintaining precision, consistency, and premium presentation in multi-unit jar packaging.

Targeting high-volume operations, the system automates the process of loading multiple pre-rolls into rigid jars, a format that continues to gain traction in regulated cannabis markets.

According to Canapa Solutions, the line integrates pre-roll check weighing, inspection, and automated conveyance ahead of the final packaging stage, reducing reliance on manual handling and minimizing variability.

At the core of the system are dual turntables that manage both jar unscrambling and accumulation.

This configuration ensures a steady, uninterrupted flow of containers into the filling stage, improving line reliability and reducing stoppages.

The multi-pack filling mechanism is engineered to accurately load pre-rolls into jars while preserving product integrity and ensuring a uniform, retail-ready appearance.

WeighPack Systems says the automated handling and precise indexing capabilities allow the system to accommodate a wide range of pre-roll sizes and pack counts.

This flexibility is intended to support producers as they scale production or diversify SKUs without compromising the premium look expected in multi-pack cannabis packaging.

The company adds that the system is designed for seamless integration with upstream automation, including the JuanaRoll pre-roll handling platform and the Vision360 inspection solution.

When deployed together, pre-rolls are weighed, filled, and inspected before entering the jar-filling stage, ensuring that only compliant products proceed to final packaging.

The modular architecture is positioned as a scalable option for producers seeking to expand capacity while improving labour efficiency and production consistency.

Canapa Solutions, part of the Paxiom Group, strengthened its automation offering last year with the launch of the Vision360, an inspection platform purpose-built for cannabis pre-rolls.

The system is designed to reduce manual inspection, improve throughput, and allow brands to customize inspection criteria to meet specific quality standards or regulatory requirements.

In related developments, WeighPack Systems recently unveiled its High-Speed Rigid Container Weigh Filling System, aimed at non-cannabis and cannabis applications alike.

The company says the solution can achieve speeds of up to 150 rigid containers per minute while maintaining gentle product handling and high weight accuracy, reinforcing its focus on high-performance automation for regulated packaging environments.
