Wildoo join forces with Re-Cycle to deliver reusable bottles, cycling gear to rural Africa

Wildoo’s contribution comes from the company’s commitment to sustainability and waste reduction.

AFRICA — Re-Cycle, the UK charity known for shipping second-life bicycles to Africa, has announced a new partnership with Wildoo, a leading manufacturer of custom-made and branded cycling products.

The partnership will see Wildoo donate over 500 reusable bottles, protein shakers, and cycling apparel to communities across Ghana, Zambia, and Sierra Leone, where access to clean water and safe transportation remains a daily challenge.

The donation includes eight boxes of reusable drinks bottles in mixed sizes, two boxes of protein shakers, and one box of brand-new cycling clothing, including jerseys, jackets, and accessories.

These items will be shipped alongside Re-Cycle’s regular consignments of refurbished bicycles, which already play a vital role in helping people reach schools, workplaces, and markets while improving access to essential services.

“It’s fantastic to provide drinks bottles alongside our bikes. We’re incredibly grateful to Wildoo for this thoughtful and practical support,” said Georgia Brown, Marketing & Fundraising Manager at Re-Cycle.

“Reusable bottles can make a huge difference in rural communities where clean water is scarce. They’re not just for cyclists, entire families benefit.”

Wildoo’s contribution comes from the company’s commitment to sustainability and waste reduction.

To ensure quality, Wildoo often produces small overruns during manufacturing. Instead of discarding these surplus but perfectly usable products, the company donates them to Re-Cycle for onward distribution.

“This partnership with Re-Cycle is the perfect outlet for Wildoo to responsibly repurpose products we no longer need,” said Andy Easterbrook of Wildoo.

“The fact that they can be sent to Africa to encourage cycling and independence rather than being destroyed is a perfect win-win.”

Re-Cycle’s partnership with Wildoo highlights the growing role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in driving sustainable change within the cycling and outdoor industries.

Similar initiatives have emerged in recent years, such as Trek’s #Bikes4BetterWorld and Rapha’s repair and reuse program, both of which aim to extend product life cycles and promote environmental stewardship.

Beyond providing bicycles, Re-Cycle continues to expand its reach by including practical essentials in every shipment.

“This partnership goes far beyond bikes,” said the organization. “By packing bottles and clothing into every container, we’re supporting daily needs and helping communities live healthier, more sustainable lives.”

Re-Cycle has called on more UK businesses to contribute unused stock, bike parts, and cycling gear to help expand its impact across Africa.
