USA – 3Degrees, a global climate solutions provider and certified B Corporation, has launched its new product, the Supply Chain Emission Reduction Agreement.
This innovative solution is designed to help organizations, particularly in the food and apparel industries, reduce the emissions intensity of their supply chains and meet their Scope 3 emissions targets.
The product is initially available to organizations with North American agricultural supply chains and aims to simplify and de-risk investments in Scope 3 emission reductions.
This approach is especially beneficial for companies with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals, as they face increasing pressure from climate-related risks and the need to strengthen relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
3Degrees partners with upstream suppliers to source, finance, and develop emissions reduction projects that deliver lower-emission products through a pay-for-performance model.
This model aligns with downstream purchasing requirements, ensuring organisations can reduce their supply chain emissions effectively.
“Our close collaboration with food and apparel brands has highlighted the pressing need for a simplified and de-risked approach to upstream emissions interventions,” said John Bourne, Senior Director of Carbon Markets and Agriculture at 3Degrees.
“Our new service is tailored to deliver a high level of customization, paving the way for broader adoption of sustainable practices.”
3Degrees has a proven track record, supporting over 100 agricultural projects in North America over the past 15 years.
The company generates more than 33% of all carbon credits from livestock projects in the region.
In May, 3Degrees partnered with CarbiCrete to accelerate the decarbonization of concrete. CarbiCrete’s patented process eliminates cement-related emissions by replacing cement with a steel-making by-product and mineralizing CO2 into concrete for permanent storage.
3Degrees will oversee the quantification and verification of the emissions reductions generated by CarbiCrete’s technology and manage the sale of the environmental attributes, responding to the growing market demand for carbon removal and supply chain intervention projects.
“We are tremendously pleased to be working with 3Degrees to leverage environmental markets,” said Jacob Homiller, CEO of CarbiCrete.
“This partnership will allow us to accelerate the deployment of our technology, reducing historic emissions while decarbonizing the construction industry.”
Director of Development for 3Degrees Peter Weisberg added, “We are very excited to accelerate CarbiCrete’s growth by enabling access to the carbon removal and supply chain intervention markets.”
CarbiCrete’s technology is currently deployed commercially in Quebec by hardscape manufacturer Patio Drummond.
The company has also announced partnerships to bring its technology to Ontario through masonry producer Canal Block and to France through POINT.P, the leading brand of Saint-Gobain, a global leader in light and sustainable construction.
