The new pressurized refining system features a proven S1050 refiner with an impressive 3,300 kW of installed power.

INDIA – International technology group ANDRITZ has successfully delivered and commissioned a state-of-the-art pressurized refining system at Metro Decorative Pvt. Ltd in Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
The system has now produced its first fibers for the company’s medium-density fiberboard (MDF) production, marking another milestone in ANDRITZ’s expanding presence in India’s wood-based panel industry.
The new pressurized refining system features a proven S1050 refiner with an impressive 3,300 kW of installed power, capable of producing 20 bone dry metric tonnes per hour (bdmt/h) of high-quality fiber from wood chips.
This installation is specifically tailored to meet Metro Decorative’s demand for consistent performance, durability, and energy-efficient operation.
According to Aman Garg, Director of Metro Decorative, “We wanted to work with a company that has deep expertise in the panelboard industry, and our collaboration with ANDRITZ has proven successful.
“Our new system has already produced its first fibers with exceptional quality and consistently reliable performance.”
Metro Decorative Pvt. Ltd. is one of India’s prominent manufacturers in the wood and panel product sector.
The company produces a wide array of products including Aluminum Composite Panels, Plywood, Particle Boards, MDF Boards, MDHMR Boards, and Laminates, with manufacturing units in Uttarakhand (Kashipur), Gujarat, and Haryana.
The new refining line is expected to significantly boost their MDF capacity and product quality.
ANDRITZ’s growing footprint in India and beyond
This successful installation follows a series of strategic deployments by ANDRITZ across Asia. Recently, ANDRITZ has strengthened its global presence through a series of strategic installations in the wood-based panel industry.
In India, the company successfully commissioned a complete fiber preparation system at Greenply Industries, one of the country’s leading plywood and MDF manufacturers..
In Turkey, ANDRITZ supplied advanced chip washing and screening systems to Starwood, a major producer of particleboard and MDF.
These systems help improve the cleanliness and consistency of raw materials, which are critical factors in producing high-quality fiberboards.
The installation enhances Starwood’s manufacturing capabilities by reducing impurities and ensuring uniform chip size, leading to improved fiber output and product durability.
Additionally, ANDRITZ has expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia by delivering refining technology to MDF manufacturers in Vietnam.
These systems are part of a broader effort to support the region’s growing demand for engineered wood products.
With rising construction and furniture manufacturing sectors, Vietnam is becoming a vital market for high-efficiency, sustainable production technologies.
ANDRITZ’s advanced refining solutions enable local producers to meet international standards while minimizing environmental impact
Each of these installations reflects ANDRITZ’s dedication to innovation, energy efficiency, and process optimization in the wood panel industry.
Their refining systems are recognized for reducing operating costs while delivering premium fiber quality, which is essential for high-end MDF and other engineered panels.
With this collaboration, ANDRITZ and Metro Decorative have not only set a new benchmark in fiber production for India’s growing MDF market but also strengthened the technological foundation for sustainable, high-quality panelboard manufacturing in the region.
