GERMANY –   Dutch corrugated packaging producer De Jong Packaging Group (DJPG) has bought the majority stake in German Wellpappenfabrik Grünstadt-Sausenheim (WSG).

Founded in 1996, DJPG is one of the main corrugated factories in Europe and claimed to be the one impartial corrugated producer in the Netherlands.

The deal will advance DJPG’s development technique and strengthen its presence within the German market.

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. It is subject to the approval of the local competition and consumer authorities.

The acquisition will contribute to both companies’ strengthening their positions in the German market, said DJPG.

DJPG CEO Advert Smit stated: “The brand new partnership with WSG is an enormous step for our growth as a packaging group. The entrepreneurial philosophy of our household firms matches and the longer-term potential is there.”

With more than 600 employees, DJPG provides boxes, stock serve, printed and plain boxes, and erecting machines.

The company operates two corrugators, 16 processing machines and 46 tray erectors, with a total capacity of 2,5 million boxes per day.

Meanwhile, WSG presents corrugated sheets, folding bins, and die-cut different packaging merchandise for a broad variety of end-use segments.

According to DJPG’s press release, the German company will keep control over its daily operations.

WSG offers a complete range of customer-specific packaging and fitted very well in the growth strategy of DJPG, the company added.

Additionally, as a recognized testing center of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), WSG has the necessary laboratory facilities for the development and testing of dangerous goods packaging made of corrugated cardboard according to 4G up to 125 kg.
