USA – DuPont, a leading chemical manufacturer, is initiating a global awards program dubbed the Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards.
This esteemed annual program aims to honor trailblazers within the healthcare sector who are fervently championing sustainability across the entire packaging lifecycle.
The awards program extends eligibility to any entity within the medical device and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing realm, sterile packaging manufacturing sector, healthcare facility, university, material recovery facility, or any other healthcare entity dedicated to fostering sustainable packaging crafted with DuPont™ Tyvek® material.
Key criteria encompass the requirement that the initiative or solution must have been implemented within the 18 months preceding the award application submission date and must demonstrate substantial achievements in sustainability along with corresponding metrics.
Kelly Reichert, the global business director for DuPont™ Tyvek® & Typar® Roll Goods, remarked, “Fostering sustainability within the healthcare packaging domain necessitates a collective endeavor, which is why we have conceived this awards program to commend remarkable accomplishments in this domain.
“We take immense pride in the pivotal innovations we provide to enhance patient safety and contribute to individuals leading long and flourishing lives. It is with great pleasure that we highlight the strides being made across the healthcare sector in the realm of sustainability.”
The application window for the awards program will be open from February 1 to June 28, 2024. Following a meticulous evaluation process by a panel of sustainability experts, healthcare professionals, packaging specialists, and esteemed industry leaders, both internal and external to DuPont, the award recipients will be unveiled in conjunction with the virtual Medical Packaging Conference hosted by DuPont in the autumn of 2024 (specific dates to be announced).
This novel award initiative seamlessly aligns with the concerted efforts of the Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging team to advance DuPont’s overarching global strategy aimed at fostering a circular economy and collaborating with international supply chains to curtail Scope 3 emissions.
DuPont has already achieved a commendable 35 percent reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions relative to its 2019 baseline, surpassing its 2030 target a remarkable eight years ahead of schedule.
Furthermore, DuPont recently unveiled the ISCC PLUS certification for its Tyvek® Luxembourg facility. Moreover, both the Luxembourg and Spruance, Virginia, facilities actively procure renewable energy credits (RECs) and Guarantees of Origin (GOs) to offset 100 percent of the electricity consumed in their operations annually (refer to the DuPont Sustainability Report for additional details).
