GERMANY – Wipak is set to showcase its latest packaging innovations at Fachpack 2024 in Nuremberg, including the FlexPod alternative cup designed for dairy products and a range of GreenChoice solutions.
The FlexPod cup, ideal for products like yogurt, is constructed with over 95% polyethylene (PE), making it easier for consumers to recycle without separating components.
This innovative cup will be highlighted at the Innovation Box Forum during the event, emphasizing its lightweight design, easy handling, and laser perforation for simple opening, all of which contribute to better recycling outcomes.
In addition, Wipak’s UK packaging solution for SMUG grated cheese has been shortlisted for the UK Packaging Awards.
This 160g mono-material doypack is designed to reduce carbon footprint by 20% compared to typical grated cheese packaging. It features a gas barrier to extend shelf life and a resealable t-zipper for freshness, and it’s fully recyclable through the UK’s OPRL return-to-store scheme.
Wipak will also present its GreenChoice solutions, which are engineered to integrate seamlessly into existing packaging lines, eliminating the need for major machinery investments.
This approach is intended to facilitate a smooth transition for customers aiming to adopt more sustainable packaging.
In collaboration with Digimarc Corporation, Wipak is advancing in the integration of physical and digital assets.
This technology plays a crucial role in preventing counterfeiting, promoting circularity, and improving recyclability.
Wipak is working towards fully digitalized documentation across the value chain, enabling customers to validate recyclability rates at scale.
Wipak has also partnered with HolyGrail 2.0, R-Cycle, and Ceflex in initiatives aimed at advancing a circular economy. Attendees at Fachpack 2024 can find Wipak’s booth in Hall 4, Booth Number 4-322.

Its FunctionalBarrier Paper range of fibre-based packaging – designed to be recycled in existing European paper waste streams – will also be on show. It is thought to be compatible with various industrial and FMCG end markets.
Furthermore, the Advantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible grade of smooth-finished, brown kraft paper offers high puncture resistance and the option to coat it for heat-sealing applications.
The solution for form fill and seal (FFS) processes is recommended to package construction parts, dry food, and other industrial and consumer products.
